Things To Do in Cincinnati?
#1
I know Burrow said there wasn’t anything to do, but I wanted to explore the city a bit in my first time in Cincinnati Big Grin

Flying to Cincinnati since I got tickets to the wild card game. I must try Skyline Chili right?

What are some things to do in the Queen City?

Also don’t know if this is the right section to post it in or not.

Many of the local churches offer Bingo and you might even find an occasional square dance event!  The city is wide open, enjoy!!!

Winter isn't nearly as fun in this city.

Yes - try Skyline. I would have dinner (or at least drinks) at Jeff Rubys. Check out the OTR neighborhood. There's some good restaurants and shops there. The Banks is a cool area to go after the game - a lot of bars and restaurants and right down the street from PBS.

We also have great breweries. Rhinegeist (OTR), Mad Tree, etc. Do some research.

Fair warning, most people I know who are not Cincinnati-area natives don't like it at all. I of course loooove it.

The Cincinnati Museum Center is top notch. If you like baseball at all the Reds HoF is nicely done and rivals any HoF you can visit, in my opinion. You can always go to a casino and find bars if you like the night life. Cincy also has a great zoo.

Across the river in Newport is the aquarium, it's a good one.

If it gets down below zero and there's a huge snow storm right before then you could always try hitch hiking on the freeway late at night dressed like it's September..  ThumbsUp  Trust me, it's not quite as much fun as seen on TV, but close.. Shocked That was me in the late 70s.. If not for some damned miracle and someone spotting me above the line of sight of trucks then carrying my frozen near corpse to his pickup truck I wouldn't be here today.. I've never been so cold in my entire life. I lost all the feeling in both legs by then.. Now THAT's a bit chilly..

The Cincinnati Art Museum is world class if you're into that sort of thing. Also the Union Terminal Museum is really cool. It's an old train station and is a perfect example of art deco.

Just be aware that Cincinnati chili isn't 'chili'.

It's a Mediterranean spiced meat sauce by Macedonian immigrants.

It's interesting. I don't like it but lots of people do.

As long as you don't go in expecting a more traditional chili.

Very true.  They always having interesting traveling displays, but the static displays are well worth the trip as well.

Has anyone said Graeter's?  Yeah, it's January, but I'd eat Graeter's while standing in a foot of snow.

I'm with you there..Not quite into the Skyline mystique.. I am, however a huge fan of Gliers Goetta.. Once you get out of the tristate region it's really hard to find..  Bring your own frying pan and a pound of butter and a carton of eggs.. You won't regret it.  ThumbsUp
My grandmother grew up in the city and had the recipe for great goetta.. She made it every Christmas..That stuff was killer..  Wink

Good call. The one next to Fountain Square is only a few blocks from PBS.

Jeff Ruby's restaurants will be booked the Saturday night before the playoff game. Make a reservation today if you want to try any of them. If you are staying over on Sunday that might be your better bet. You might even see some players. Nada and Sotto are also both really good. I would head towards Over the Rhine for some nightlife.

You could always take up housekeeping in a van down by the river!  ThumbsUp I hear there's a nice river in town.

What are you looking to try to do? See scenery, museums, drink, something else?

LaRosas pizza is also a staple of the area. But Banks is my preferred drinking spot for a public area. Could always try to bum a conversation with the multitudes of people who tailgate. Cincy area folk area pretty open when celebrating together imo.

Good call, I don't live in the area anymore and miss LaRosas pizza more than Skyline or Gold Star.

Cincinnati is a classic Midwest town. The best parts are the friendly people, great food and drinks. In addition, Cincinnati also has a world-class arts scene, between the museums, ballet, theater, symphony, etc. But for people who travel to cities for "experiences" or adventure, it's definitely not that kind of place, especially in the winter. I think going in with the right expectation makes it a fun city to visit, much the same way as Minneapolis or St Louis. Have a good trip!

You could do the Queen City Underground Tour. I've never taken it, but it looks interesting and gets good reviews.
