Dude had a terrible game, a couple of holding penalties & a false start. Also looked terrible against backups.

He's also a locker room cancer that has had issues with coaches at every spot.

I sure hope that the clips from today's practice show him moving a little more fluidly than that one from yesterday.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Listening to the Locked On Bengals podcast this morning, they kinda laid it out:
Starting 5 and Mims (or starting 5 and Trent Brown)
Cody Ford is not getting cut
You need someone to be the backup center whether it's Mike Lee or Trey Hill

That's 7 spots right there.

There's a real good chance, Carman is not making the roster. Especially if he looks and plays like he did last Saturday

Source?

The Patriots traded for him to have him for a year and still later traded for him to bring him back. Then the next offseason they re-signed him. That's three different times they chose to have him. If Bill Belichick chooses 3 times to bring you/keep you around, I find it hard to believe you are some irredeemable cancer.

Shocker, guy who gets injured after playing limited snaps got injured after playing limited snaps already. Who could’ve seen that coming?
Glad we didn’t get immediate help on a Super Bowl ready roster. Can’t draft for the future in the middle of a window. Not sure we get by help from our rookies outside of Burton

If we selected a DT or SS at 18 that shined, then Rankins and Bell would be in trouble, but those positions are different because there could be a rotation or room for all (rookies and vets) to play significant snaps. So being labeled a 'starter" is just a technicality.

OT I would argue is a little different of a position given only 1 player plays it at a time, and you really don't want an OT rotation. I agree, when selecting Mims they likely didn't expect him to start, but he certainly locked the position up this offseason thanks to TB missing time. People can say he hasn't faced top AFCN DE's, or any top DE's but when he does no matter this year or next, it'll still be his first time and we'll never know how he would hold up against them until he actually does.

Let's just hope Brown can play up to his NE days. The Oline start Saturday was the best I've seen in a preseason game 1 in a long time. Typically all the upgrade hype ends in a sack the first drive of preseason game 1.
Typically the starting OL doesn’t play any preseason snaps under Taylor. So I would hope it was the best you’ve seen in a long while.

We will most certainly get help from our rookies. Maybe not initially, but look at last year bud. By the end of the season, most of our rookies were playing some meaningful snaps.

We've had line issues for close to a decade. So I said a long time and wasn't just saying under Zac.

Munoz had major knee surgeries in college. Would you have drafted him? I am curious because he seems you feel Bengals past, and present should bever draft a player who had injuries in college.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Yeah, this is just a strained pec. Knee injuries are the worst and Munoz somehow overcame them, let's hope Mims can overcome this minor injury.

Not out of reality at all that he does. Mims is not injury prone like Trent Brown seems to be.

No, not as a starter pretty sure, he was the backup the other years he was healthy to some good OL.

Last year was the first time he was the starter and as you see he missed quite a bit of time because of the ankle sprain and hammy issues.

This doesn't mean he is injury prone though.

I was in a similar boat as this. I thought Mims was a luxury pick for the future. We needed immediate help at LG. So that's why I wanted Troy Fautanu; as he could play inside until one of the Browns gave way.

Of course TF got imjured as well so moving forward Ima play like I always wanted Tyler Guytyon. He looked good.

Don't embarrass yourself by arguing about something everyone long knows about and remembers.

All of the background and history is already long been discussed. Glad you found that this was actually a thing. Even if the article you chose was him spinning it. It's a start. Now review all the history and background of his time and benching / healthy scratches while playing for the Pats.

You are right. It don't pay to be lazy. And ignoring everything else for an article on reddit was..... well.... Lazy.
