Out of 255 defensive linemen with at least 50 snaps, Sam Hubbard ranks 252nd & Myles Murphy ranks 253rd in PFF Pass Rush Grading.

I know some disagree, but my personal opinion is a 1st rounder needs to be able to play well going into their 2nd year.
I'm willing to give them one year to get acclimated, but a 1st rounder should have the talent and capacity to catch on quickly.
If they don't, they shouldn't have been taken that early.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: 3-5 so far. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

They did say Murphy is a Hubbard clone

I wonder how much of our pass rush woes are due in part to always being in 3rd and short situations? Also how much is it being effected by bad coverage?

They drafted another Clemson guy way to early who hasn't panned out....they have a tendency of drafting guys from a handful of schools and piss on everyone else. I agree this year Murphy should have been producing. He hasn't done that looks like another waste of a 1st round pick.

When you get no pass rush and the QB has all day to throw someone is gonna finally get open....that's a no brainer.

Bengals are so conservative, they have tk be spoon fed drafting someone with exciting traits.
Burrow & Chase were literally no brainer gifts.
Murphy, Jonah, Dax.... Not a single special thing they do between em, PERFECT fit for the Bengals FO. 3 JAGs.... Just A Guy. It's like Duke's looking for the athlete version of himself in these picks. 2% White Milk out there just towing the company line of meh.

Dax is better than those guys. Dax is good

It's really bad. Murphy being a legit bust is a huge setback for this team if he continues this way. They suck at drafting DL and getting one in FA is unlikely given upcoming budget constraints. Lou's zone was Swiss cheese yesterday, but it's hard to hold water when Hurts has an hour to stand around and wait for an open receiver.

I don't think he is anywhere near what you expect from a first rounder. He is in his 3rd year and had to make a position switch because he was so bad at Safety. He looked like an avg CB, but was that because either avg CB on the Bengals sucks?
He's no prime Chido, which was needed badly.

Dax was having a good year working with no pass rush to help him before his injury.
Dax is fine

The dude was the 2nd to last pick in the first round. He was entering his 3rd year and was our best CB, what does it matter that he "had" to switch position?

Dax was starting to play well before he got hurt. Still can’t tackle for shit, but the pick was at least looking salvageable.
Still stings that KC got Karlaftis the pick right before us though. Those are the kind of impact players we’ve desperately been missing.

What do you mean what does it matter? If Mims had to switch to Guard year after next after giving up a ton of sacks we'd all call him a bust. Why not Dax Hill?
Being the Bengals best CB at this point is bragging about being the smartest kid on the short bus. Bengals play a zone system, the easiest CB job there is.
I'll agree with you that the D Line is also bad.

Moving from Safety to CB is an upgrade. Moving from Tackle to Guard is not.
He was moved to CB because he was the best cover man on the team

helps when you have chris jones. not really sold on karlaftis either. he's thriving in a system we basically beat. were it not for a few plays.

Still not sure how us almost beating them takes away from Karlaftis being a good player. Mahomes, McDuffie, Jones, etc, all would have taken the L as well.
I’d personally love to have a guy other than Trey put up double digit sacks for our fans to “not be sold on.”

it doesn't take away from karlaftis. he's just not that good. what the chiefs are able to do is create due to their DL.
