Is Zac Taylor really on the hot seat?

I mean his wet gunpowder level slow starts are killing this team! He's 4-13-1 in the first 3 games of every season so far in his tenure here. His play calling is suspect to say the least. His in game decisions are very questionable at times.

Drafting in the top rounds has been crap and player development is not happening. In fact even the free agents seem to be getting worse cept for Trey and perhaps one other.

We're 4-6 and on the ledge of dropping off the playoff contention cliff. A loss to the Chargers and barring miracles it will be, and it's all but over. Steelers twice, Broncos, and I just don't see this team (defense) reeling off 6 in a row.

Do you think MB and the brain trust will say, we better go in a new direction before it's too late with Joe Burrow. Or even could JB ask for it? You can see he's not happy during pressers and interviews.

I think I'd fire Tobin first, and maybe most of the defensive staff. Zacs seat should be hot though.

Yes

And there's so many slices to the convoluted Bengals F.O. pie it's impossible to know whos really calling the shots? For example I've read many times that Carman was a MB pick. Is that really true?? Who knows?

And we've been on the who's really running the show merry-go-round hundreds of times with all kinds of issues going way back to the beginning of the mother ship. And besides the first couple seasons I've never been a big ZT basher. But this season has doubt creeping back in my head. Is he really the guy to get us over the hump?

I fully believe he'd be way better off to step down as OC and hire a real one. And I agree most if not all the defensive staff needs shown the door.

All I know is this. If they're not careful the JB era is gonna be in the rearview mirror and then what??

No.

The club is 6th in the league in scoring offense.  Joe is leading the league in passing yards, tied for 1st in TD Passes, and 2nd in passer rating.  Chase is leading the league in receiving yards and TD's by wide margins.

Lou will go first.  The defense is far and away the weak link in the team despite most of the premium draft capital being spent there the past several years.  Until Lou is gone, Zac's seat isn't even warm.

Yes we have two great players on offense and Trey on defense but.... That doesn't mean ZT is the HC to get this team to where it needs to be.

No, I think the article is speculative at best without any substantive reasoning. Taylor 's contract runs through the '26 season so I think he's got at least this season and next before cutting ties with him would even be in ownership's thought process.

I tend to agree

I'd be pretty shocked if Zac was shown the door after this season. Especially considering how this team works.

We spit the bit again next season, I dunno??

I'm not going to go look but I bet someone wrote an article for 10 years that Marvin was on the hot-seat.

It better he one damn hot seat. I could see him staying and the other coaches getting let go though, especially Lou and the trench
coaches. Pitcher might also stick around, but I would rather we fire Tobin and add all new proven coaches around Zac if we are going
to keep him.

Yep, have to start with the guy we know isn't getting it done in drafting and player evaluation that is on the top. Add a good GM and
more scouts. Honestly, if this season continues to be a big disappointment I would fire them all, clean house, add a new GM and add
Ben Johnson the OC from the Lions to be HC in the Offseason and let him pick his crew that makes Burrow happy.

Nope and he should not be on the Hot seat! Lou might be on the seat though.

Nothing matters but wins and selling fans tickets that is the deciding factor if his seat is hot or not.

Ownership and the FO will look at what Zac accomplished when he actually had a competent defense.

We have an offensive minded head coach and our offense is literally amazing. Sure, let's be pissed about this season ,I know I am. But be careful what you wish for, everyone.

I wouldn't get rid of anyone, honestly. We're literally like 4 plays from being 8-2, and this thread (and many like it) wouldn't exist.

I think Zac is evolving as a HC, honestly. He's finally putting the ball in Joe's hands to finish games, he's playing aggressively to win, he's making changes in personnel pretty often to find what works. We just need him to stop calling plays, I think.

Can't many teams in the league make the same argument? "We're only a few plays from a winning record..." That's how parity in the NFL seems to work since there are many close games. I'm definitely not analyzing or breaking it down myself to demonstrate if the "a few plays from winning" statement is valid for other teams. But if it is accurate, then does it negate using the argument in favor of the head coach if the argument can be applied to the majority of coaches?

Good coaches win close games like Andy Reid is doing with the Chiefs. Zac has won close games before and his team is disciplined, one of
the least penalized teams in the league and Lou and Hobby are probably the reasons for these close losses if we are going to defend Zac.

Yes, if he was with any other organization but, no, since he's under contract here. Abandoning the run the way he continually does, head-scratching play calling we've seen time and time and time again and, more importantly, just from his recent comment that he needs to defend Burrow more in regards to officiating. That, my friends, is beyond comprehension.

Let's see, you have a #1 pick playing QB, a top 3-4 QB in the league year in/year out, a player that has led you to a SB and almost another one if not totally eff'ed over by the officials, a guy that has suffered major multiple injuries and, more shockingly, for ZT to say in an interview he probably needs to defend JB more to officials, well, that's a fireable statement ESPECIALLY since we see very reputable and irreputable coaches, week in and week out, get in officials faces when needed and CERTAINLY when one of their star players goes through even half of what Burrow has to go through.
