Chargers - 27
Bengals - 17

And they just put up 27 on one of the stingiest defenses in the league.

As BigBad said, they haven't played an Offense like ours yet where Burrow and Chase are on fire and Herbert is not a running QB like Lamar.
And we have not played a defense like them, and sadly Herbert lookings to be getting healthy though he has no WRs gives us a chance but Chargers have the edge

While my heart wants a win badly to keep our super slim playoff hopes alive, the bottom line is this:

All time vs Chargers away we are 7-11
All time series vs Chargers we are 14-22
Its a west coast game that for some reason, history says we don't do well.
It's a prime time game. We were doing a lot better in those, but lately, have pooped the bed.
Chargers D rates right up there with the Giants, Browns, Eagles. Remember how well we did against those D's Luckily the Browns and Giants offense are horrible.

Chargers 27 Bengals 20, and the game wont be as close as the score. Hopefully Burrow survives the hits, because it's only a matter of time.....

All time records mean nothing. This team, has nothing to do with previous Bengals teams.Same  can be said of the Chargers.

He does have a point, though. I also hate to tell people things that have nothing to do with the flow of the conversation.

It kills me to say this but I'm no longer a fan of the Filet O'Fish. So there.

35-17 Chargers.

Polar opposite teams style wise. The Charges are a physical team they use a 300 pound fullback and wanna punch you in the throat vs. the Bengals finesse style no run game , shotgun and no defense. The key to this game is stopping the run. The Chargers want to control the clock by running the ball and use play action in the passing game. I'd actually start Jenkins over Rankins in this game, Rankins gets pushed around in the run game. Half of tacking is will and want to is Geno Stone willing to get dirty and tackle in the run game ? I'd be fine with Battle getting more snaps in this game.

Bengals are almost in do-or-die territory. A 7th loss, the 5th AFC loss, and they are probably looking to have to win out if they lose to the Chargers and fall to 4 and 7. I have to believe the Bengals will win because they know their season is hanging by a thread and, like Rocky, they have the heart of  "I ain't going down no more."

But they have to keep Burrow upright and not get assaulted again, and the defense needs to get its act straightened out. But I have to go with my heart and say the Bengals will win.

Still, Herbert is no Lamar Jackson. Trey could have a big game even if Slater is a good LT. They do haven Quinton Johnston who is a good,
young WR that could hurt us. Of course the running game with Dobbins and Edwards could also be problematic against our Defense. I do
understand why some are saying the Chargers will out play us physically, but Burrow and Chase are on fire right now and to think we only
score 17 points sounds a touch crazy to me. Could happen though I guess and the season is over.

Here's the thing with me Nate.

The Chargers are very good on D! Only allowing 13.4 or whatever points a game. Do I believe they'll hold us under two TD's? NO But can we put 35 or more on the board to carry our D? I kinda doubt it

The Chargers aren't great on O but our D will make them look like the greatest show on turf. And I think in the end we'll come up short.

Hope I'm wrong

True but Herbert is WAY more athletic than most non Chargers fans realize.

After scoring 33, 34, and 38 in 3 straight games we then scored 17, 21, and 17 against actually good defenses. It usually isn't all the sudden teams playing better or worse. It's looking at competition of who you're playing. Not sure how you can see us put up a 3 week stretch like that against good defenses and think it's crazy another good defense could do the same thing.

Completely understand BF74. I have no faith in our Defense in the 2nd half after the last few debacles against the Ravens and
Commanders. I do have some faith in Burrow, Chase and our Offense though and Trey is playing like a mad man at the very
least on D. We will see and hope you are wrong as well.

If we lose this game I am preparing for the Draft honestly. This is do or die IMO.

True enough and he is getting healthier.

To only score 17 is a bit crazy to me, but you are correct the Chargers have a very good Defense and could hold us under 30 for sure.

I just think Burrow and Chase are going to come out desperate and another player like Gesicki, Hudson or even Burton is going to show up.

Of course I could be wrong completely and the Chargers just own us on both sides of the ball.

This is a rebuild year where good coaching is making sure they beat the teams they should.  We will find out if they can beat better teams in the next 4 games(Bengals, Ravens, Falcons, Chiefs)

The defense has performed well but here is some context

Qbs faced this year:
Minshew
Bryce Young
Fields
Mahomes(Ray Rice got hurt on first offensive possession and it was Kareem Hunts first game back)
Bo Nix
Kyler Murray
Spencer Rattler
Jamis
Will Levis

The Chargers are currently starting two rookie CBs, both 5th rounders.  They have performed pretty well but with the QBs they've faced its hard to say if they are that good yet.
Joey Bosa is injured and on a limited snap count.  Mack injured his groin at the end of the Browns game and played only the first quarter yesterday.  Even when they were both healthy the pass rush has been below average this year.

The Bengals should have no trouble scoring 28.

Offensively the Chargers have struggled to score.  The WRs get little to no separation.  Rookie McConkey probably separates the best but teams have started to double him. It's so bad that fans all have their hope tied to DJ Chark who was a free agent this year coming off IR.  He was active yesterday but had zero snaps.
The run game has not been good either.  The numbers look better than it is because Dobbins busted a few long ones late in games.  Gus Edwards was brought in and was bad early in the season.   He was put on IR and came back yesterday.  He did look much better so perhaps the Chargers will run at will on the Bengals' weaker run D.

Herbert was hurt in the Tennesee game but seems to have recovered and is running more.  He has to play perfect for the Chargers to win, which has been the case since he entered the league.

My guess would be the Bengals win 28-24

Don't worry your offense will get better in this game.

Herbert - 8-9 in prime time games. 2-3 on OT prime time games.

Chargers have gave up the fewest points of any NFL team this season, and they are home with 12 man on defense crowd noise.  The Bengals could use Higgins in this one.  Now is Higgins going to play again this year, or is he just sitting on the bench waiting for the Free Agency he was denied by Bengals last March ?   Having both Chase and Higgins would help against a Chargers Defense giving up few points, and laying the hits on opposing QB's.  Burrow is maybe the most hit QB in NFL.  Forget where is Waldo, where is Higgins ?  If Higgins is like AJ Green his last season here and keeps finding reasons not to play, then Bengals spent a whole lot of franchise tag money for nothing, when that money could have been used on other areas of the team.

I like Bengals chances if Higgins plays.  If Higgins sits again, not so much. If Bengals lose this one, it's probably not going to make a whole lot of difference what Bengals do after the bye week.

LA has no fans. The opposing team's fanbases always take over. So I have no clue what you are talking about
