It is the pitiful defense. Don't know Zac's responsibility in that area, but as head coach, it seems he bears responsibility for the defense also.
Zach will keep saying we are right there, until the season is over. The defense is 24th in yards allowed and 28th in points allowed. They finished last year at 31st. There is no hope that this will get better without changes.
Lou’s defense finished in middle of the pack once. Rest of the time down near the bottom. It’s either the coaches or the players, something has to change.

We'll go 7-10. Maybe. We'll get swept by the Steelers. The Browns, and Titans are the only teams that I feel comfortable saying we're winning. The Browns could beat us, but I think they're tanking

That is far from the worst part. The worst part is the Front Office and their refusal to change while wasting many elite players careers while here.

Cowboys are the NFC Bengals plus their QB is hurt, Steelers could very well be resting their starters week 18, and the Broncos are one of those "which team shows up that week" kinda team.

We have 4 good players on this team, Burrow, Chase, Higgins and Hendricks and that’s it.
Only one on defense and that’s the problem. You can’t win with only one player on defense.

I don't think the Bengals can fix these problems in just the draft. Too many good players needed. And drafting in the top 10 helps in the first round, and gets them one stud, but they do so lousy drafting in other rounds that hard to see them fixing this team via the draft.
Yeah, early draft picks would be better than late draft picks, but somehow other teams do well with getting late draft picks year after year after year.

And with serious needs at multiple spots.

They need to tank the rest of the season. There is literally no reason not to, at this point.
There are no participation trophies, so go for the highest draft position possible.

At this point it's less picking areas of need and just adding good players. Depending on where the Bengals end up in the draft order this might be a good year to trade back a short distance and collect an extra top 100 pick.

They don't need to tank. When I look at the remaining schedule, I estimate two more wins possibly a 3rd. This team will be 6-11 or 7-10 picking closer to the top 10 than middle of the draft.

With the offense finishing Top 10 in scoring, they'll keep Zac.
The offense is good despite the scheme and playcalling. Not because of it.
Like Tee Higgins beat a double team and got open. It was a terrible play otherwise.

If this is Taylor's way of telling the fanbase don't expect changes in the offseason with how they do things, then the Bengals fanbase is about to be cooked for years to come.
The defense is legit bad at every level. Slow at every level.
Our highly paid kicker appears to have the yips. The look on his face when he walked out to kick in the 4th quarter...I knew he'd miss.
On offense. We have an all-world QB and 2 great WR's. The rest of the offense is average to below average to bad.
And the coaching and scheme have to be among the most basic in the NFL.

I'd say that most people that have followed the Bengals for some time realize that the Bengals are more likely to be average/bad than good. Yes, there are some wildly optimistic posters that expect 12-14 wins, but I'd say the majority of the bell curve expect somewhere around .500 (7 to 9 wins).

I did say 8-9 and any best 9-8, that seems like a pipe dream now.
I believe you mean 'flack'. Caught a lot of flack.
And yeah...I doubt this team finishes with 8 wins. So the stuff you and the other poster are celebrating about, is likely to be wrong. If so, I look forward to your posts about being wrong.

They find ways to lose...except against the absolute worst teams.
That's a hallmark of bad teams.

...and keep most of the coaching staff.
Burrow is too good to make Taylor look terrible and get him fired.
Someone nailed it in the game thread...this team is the equivalent of putting Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison on a 2000's Browns team. Or a 90's Bengals team I guess.

I stayed up as late as I could to get back in, but gave up about 12:45. It's good to know that it just wasn't me.
I new it would happen someday: the Bengals' performance finally killed the BB.

Why isn't McPherson kicking into a net while on the sidelines. Where is his urgency? I wonder if he's missing during warmups too?

Exactly
They look good against mediocre teams and below. But the half dozen or so good/great players we have just can't push up over the top against the better competition.
This team needs a major overhaul to become a consistent winner. Like 4 - 6 starters on both sides of the ball. And a kicker
