Now this could get interesting and complicated at the same time.

What if the plan all along was for Burrow to restructure every year in order to help the team retain players as much as possible?

He's always talked about having a contract that gives the Bengals the ability to do this. Our guy is out here playing chess.

This is obviously intentional. He wants to stay. And now they have a bit more leverage. Previously, ownership could tell Tee’s agent they need to wait to see where Chase comes in at, because woe is me, we don’t have enough cash. Now the agent will know exactly how the 2 deals are looking to be structured and he can find a way to make it work for both. It’s good for bengals because now they don’t have to compete against two agents, they just need to come to terms with one agent.

This is 100% intentional and I think a sign of good faith from Tee. He wants to stay. If tee and Chase were able to take some type of discount for team friendly deal I’m all in favor of keeping him. If not, then I sadly say we need to move on and use those resources (draft and cap) on the defense. But if we get a package deal, I’m all for it.

Katie and Troy better not fumble this shit. It's a layup at this point.

Bundlerooski, bundlerrrrooski!

Seriously though, I hope that someone takes the three of them (9,5,1) and says "take a look at the defense, unless you want to keep missing the playoffs, save a little cash for them".

I do not like it.

The team needs Ja'Marr Chase.

Tee is the green bean casserole of a Thanksgiving dinner. He makes some happy, but if he wasn't there, no one would truly miss him.

Yes. No one but apparently Joe Burrow would miss him. I'm not sure how having Tee Higgins prohibits the Bengals from having a good defense. Philadelphia has a pretty nasty defense. Poor management keeps the Bengals from having a good defense.

If Chase and Higgins both get signed, it had better come with a concession from the FO to hire more scouts as well.  Having Burrow-Chase-Higgins under contract for 4+ years means the offensive line and defense will live and die through the draft.  Current scouting personnel group isn't cutting it.
Everything in this post is my fault.

I've said that all along and now Chase might be unhappy, which he obviously won't say, if his deal is slightly less because his agent says it needs to be for them to have money for Tee.

Maybe, he signed with Chase's agent because he knew his own agent was being too demanding and couldn't get a deal done.

On the flip-side, maybe his agent wanted him to take less.

I also don't like that they'll be working to get them done at the same time.

Philadelphia drafted well and also said "F the future".

They are abusing the void years HARD to try to win now. They already have $228m in cap allocations for 2027 with only 14 players actually on the roster (8 of those 14 being their 2024 rookies) and $189m for 2028 with only 6 players on the roster.

They will have a massive reckoning.

Who the F actally likes Green Bean casserole? That's an awful conmmparison.  Tee is more like great stuffing. If you have regular box stuffing then it's just ok but if you do it right then it's an essential part of the feast.

Tee is more like stuffing that WAS great and now it's been two weeks since Thanksgiving. You can either be safe and throw it away because it's not worth the risk, or you can take the risk and eat it knowing that you will probably be stuck on the toilet all day as a result.

This is a hostage takeover and Chase's agent will hold MB hostage. This is not great news at all if you wanted to keep Chase and not Tee.

And Burrow isn't doing anyone but himself any favors if you all consider restructuring his contract some sort of favor to MB. All that means is he gets a chunk of money upfront. He isn't sacrificing anything. Most players are happy to take that payday. It actually hurts the FO in the long run. His help could have come when he was negotiating his contract (and it didn't).

This was probably the worst case scenario for MB and Co. At least they had a shot at keeping Chase before. Now it's Chase and Tee or likely neither.

The FO clashed pretty bad with Chase's agent let's not forget.

Who likes a talented WR who will cost the team a king's ransom to keep, but is injury prone and cannot be relied upon to be worth said ransom?

Use that same money in the trenches, and the team improves a heck of a lot more than burning it on Tee Higgins.

He's green bean casserole!  Sick
