Trey did pretty much win that game by himself.
I read your first line and was ready to reply "Trey day" but you acknowledged it in line two of your post.
It would be nice to see another rusher opposite of him and a good run-stuffing type in the middle.

There's a reason that Murphy hasn't won the starting job and claimed it as his own. That reason likely is that he cannot finish a play strong. He's pretty good at defeating the initial block by the Tackle, but then he pursues and closes like his boots are full of concrete..
I think that Murphy's only chance of looking good would be to have a strong interior DL that quickly flushed the QB/ball carrier to the edge and into his waiting arms.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I’m good rolling with McKinnley Jackson at NT. He improved over the course of the season.
They desperately need a good 3T though. I pretty much want the best DT or OG available at 17.

100%. Myles Murphy needs a complete technique and conditioning overhaul.
You can always play the what if game, but seeing Nolan Smith, Brian Branch, Joey Porter Jr, Bryan Bresee (Myles Cemson Teammate). all taken after him, is a shame.
Bresee has 12 sacks in his first 2 years with 14 TFL, age 23 like Myles, Myles has 3 Sacks and 2 tackles for loss.
If this team has 7.5 more Sacks this season (what Bresee had in 2024).....they 100% would be in the playoffs
Ouch

I'll give you that one. Trey has changed the momentum of a few games last couple years. But he can't continue to be on his own like he was this season. I get that Hubbard has been injured, Johnson and Ossai showed some life at the end. Jenkins Jr. and Jackson had some moments inside. Sample may be back and better?
But none of that fills me with confidence that our Dline will be fixed. I'm still praying they get a couple studs thru draft and free agency to fix things, or try to up front.

I'm leaning toward OG. A guy that you can lock up for the next 10 years and know you're getting consistent and solid play.

Probably spot on with this Sunset.
Is it because of lack of confidence? Lack of speed? It's just kind of perplexing to me.

And it's kinda baffling how the coaching staff hasn't seen this. Hopefully this can be fixed because it's a shame for a 1st round pick to be a total bust. And he's leaning that way pretty hard.

I'm still on the fence.
I know I'm an old school set in his ways dinosaur but... IMHO the lines both O and D are bar faarrrr our biggest issue. Bar none
In many, many, games we can't give Joe any time. We can't get 3rd and a yard and a half (get in shotgun with an empty backfield) We can't get any pressure on opposing QB's outside of Trey (who's being double teamed and held) Can't stop from getting gashed regularly by runs. Just on and on.
I wouldn't be upset if they went DL,OL,DL,OL in the upcoming draft. Now here comes the analytics stat head geeks to make fun of me, LOL.

I'm with you dude. I also would not be upset if they went OL,DL,OL,DL - as long as they are quality players

Whatever they've been doing in OTA's, camp, practice, and pre-season games they have to scrap it all because it doesn't work. And I feel long story short they have to just get tougher.
2. They have to fix the Oline. Specifically the guards. We can't let Joe Burrows best years slide by with the two worst guards in the NFL. Cut Cappa and bench Volson. We can't just roll the dice and hope it gets better. I'm ok with OBJ, Karras, and Mims but would like to see more depth than Lee (unknown) and Ford.
3. The defense, good gawd get it fixed. Ok so we fired Lou, great. Hire a proven coach and get the ball rolling. We can't continue being one of the worst D's in the NFL and expect to be in the Super Bowl hunt. We don't have to be top 5. Just middle of the road kinda thing.
I'm just hoping and praying...again, that the F.O. will step up and let the deadwood go and get Joe some help before it's to late.
Spot on BF74. Cannot disagree with anything, just have to add if we can add a pass rusher on the inside or Kris Jenkins grows into a stud
3-tech it could really help the Defense more than anything. Just look at the Rams last night with their DT's just blowing up the interior of
the Vikings OL. Darnold had no chance and made him look like we all thought he was on a very good team.
BTW, heard the Vikings are going to lose a ton of their players in FA, wouldn't mind adding one or two of them. Just not from the OL lol

Win-win if they go DL, OL, DL or OL, DL, OL.

You’re assuming they’d actually extend a guard. Guess that would be another sign times have changed.

Only thing with that is you can’t be against keeping Tee and then want every draft pick used on the trenches. If Tee leaves they pretty much have to take a WR in the first couple rounds. The crop of WR’s in FA this year is really not great.

Yes, there are always assumptions to be made with this ownership.

I disagree with your assessment of this FA's WRs.
Tee Higgins
Chris Godwin
Stefon Diggs
Keenan Allen
Brandin Cooks
DeAndre Hopkins
Darius Slayton
Tyler Boyd (not catching "passes" from Levis and Rudolph)
Elijah Moore
Tutu Atwell
Olamide Zaccheaus
Josh Palmer
Noah Brown
And Marquise Brown, KJ Osborn, or DJ Chark might be interesting buy-low prove-it gambles.

There's a good smattering of talent of different levels. We already have a elite true #1 WR and we already have an elite QB, so the hard parts are already done. After that we just need to fill the ranks with decent dependable talent.
Josh Palmer is projected by Spotrac for 3yr/$12.8m and Brandin Cooks is projected for 1yr/$5.2m. Obviously on the assumption that we extended Chase, if we signed both of them or one of them plus Tyler Boyd (spotrac doesn't offer a projection for him but I would imagine something like 1yr/$2m) I would feel quite satisfied with our WR group heading into 2025 even if we didn't use a pick on WR (though we probably should still use a 4th or a 5th round pick just in case for depth).

We all agree we need to fix the trenches. But it is my hope we go after a high-end FA guard and a high-end DL in free agency.
I have concerns on counting on rookies to plug and play. OL and DL rookies seem to lack the strength to become all pros in year one and sometimes year 2 as well. I hope we get our OL and DL set prior to the draft, then we can still draft the trenches, but not have to throw them in the fire week 1.
There has to be better options available than Volson, Cappa and Ford in FA. We need to sign one of them and use money saved by cutting Cappa. Volson is a cheap back up who needs to be fighting for a roster spot. I also interested to see if a new OL coach can improve our existing OL, other than Cappa, but not at the expense of counting on them to make guys great immediately.
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Lol, I am just pointing out they're going to be quite a few good or at least decent WRs in FA for 2025, not that they're all 4-6 year longterm solutions.
Besides there's a good handful of younger guys there, though admittedly it is true that if you're in the #1 WR market (not that we are) the next youngest guy after Tee is heading into his age 29 season.

You say that like it’s a guarantee. We’ve taken many players in the middle of the draft who have been busts. But I do agree taking a G. I think D needs to be all defense. We don’t have time to wait for draft picks to pan out to improve the team. We need results asap, which FA could provide. If they get the right guys…not Geno stone

It's what I'd like. Nothing is a guarantee with the draft or the world of Mike Brown ownership.
