He has always implied it in interviews but today he flat out admitted it. Its a good thing because his must have list now includes Trey and Mike Gesicki. He is doing Radio Row today so I suspect we will hear variations of this theme all day

It’s an absolute layup for the FO to get these done. The players WANT to stay together and they have the means to make it happen.
If they botch this, man….

Great news. All teams with a franchise QB seem to do it. KC it appears will add 39 million to 2025 cap space by restructuring Mahomes.
This also puts pressure on FO as it eliminates the not enough money in 2025 to get things done.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I just saw this and now the question for me is lets say they do get all of these guys re-signed…is there any $ left over to add to the IOL/DL/S positions?
I get wanting these guys back and improving through the draft but there has to be some outside additions, too. Can they sign the main guys, keep Hilton and add a G by cutting some other guys along with restructuring Burrow?
I’m not confident they will all be back and if they are I can see the FO saying they have no $ to add more players in FA.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out especially now that Burrow has put the pressure on them.

Very good to hear. This to me is leading up to a pivotal moment in the Burrow era. If front office does their best to get it done, then much smoother waters going forward. If they don't and value their 'model-model' so to speak instead, it will get ugly.

And the city shouldn't put a dime into renovating Paycor either in this case.
lol@ pivotal moment"...sure Burrow wants Higgins to stay..but..resigning an often injured wide receiver with chronic hamstring problems is foolish..that would be typical Bengals..you do realize he misses 4-5 games a season and they also pull him out of numerous games early because he cant play...this team really needs @ least 6-7 very good players on the OL/DL and linebacker position ..this team needs every dime it has, smart scouting, player development...there are plenty of secondary receivers both at the college level waiting to be drafted and in the NFL that can run routes and catch a football for far less than 20-25 million a year

No matter what the GMs on this Board proclaim..regardless of money shifting ..CAP space etc...there is absolutely no way..where this team stands now..that they will fill the many voids and deficiencies if they sign Higgins to a 20-25 million dollar a year contract...and if this organization cannot find halfway decent wide receivers that can run routes and catch a football..then we deserve .500 seasons..we need 2 interior offensive linemen..2 DL and maybe a linebacker or 2 ..not an often injured Higgins that misses one 1/4th of the season every year...and there are an additional 4-5 games when he is pulled out early because said chronic hamstring is acting up..Everyone likes Tee..I get that..so do I...but be careful what you wish for

100% this. If they can't get this done then its just a complete failure and there is zero hope for them.

Go look at their cap space past the 2025 season. They aren't paying anyone other than Burrow and Orlando Brown. 221 MILLION in cap space. That is ridiculous.
You pay Trey, Tee, and Chase - you still have over 100 million in cap space. SPEND THE MONEY.

Joe restructures his contract and cut Cappa, Hubbard, Rankins and you will have plenty of space to sign Chase, Tee and Trey, plus add to the defense and OL! Burrow fired a shot across the FO Bow!

He has missed 5 games that past 2 seasons ea.and left early in others. But missed the 3 games the first 3 seasons combined. So it seems a but unfair to just assume that's completely what he is. Also not many receivers that can miss 5 games and leave early in others and still be a top 10 wr in a season.

Joe making the rounds today and we have a seemingly less rare Trey Hendrickson interviews all saying the same. FO could take a big black eye this off-season if they don't start handing out bags to people.

Why wouldn't he be willing to restructure? All a restructure means is he typically gets more upfront cash. There isn't any change to the contract value from him. It's just an accounting change.
However, restructuring a players contract requires CASH. Given the cash that will have to be spent on other players, a restructure while would help create cap space, will be hard to do with cash strapped ownership

Pissing off your meal ticket franchise QB is even more foolish. He's not putting this out there just to say it. He will go out like Carson Palmer if this is botched. The difference is Palmer made these statements behind closed doors, and we were all shocked when the demand came. Burrow knows this franchise mishandled everything during the previous two QB's second contract. He's not going to stand for it, nor should he.

Yuuuup. It's not any form of sacrifice or compromise at all. It's not like he's taking a paycut or anything, so it's not news.
The Bengals were already going to be cheap when it comes to guaranteed money because of it having to go into escrow or being paid immediately. Restructuring is just more money that needs to be paid now on top of Chase's guaranteed money, Hendrickson's guaranteed money, Tee's guaranteed money, and now Burrow's restructured bonus.... and we haven't even begun to add anyone to actually improve the team yet. So I don't see the Bengals FO suddenly pulling $300m in liquid cash out of their asses and either spending it immediately or putting it into escrow.

He's obviously not going to say no when he's asked because he'll look like a dick and not a team player, and that's not calling out Joe or implying that he's not a team player, but nobody is going to say no in that situation (unless they've been instructed by Drew Rosenhaus).
Again, that's not an attack on Joe and I know he'd do it, especially since it would just be restructuring and not losing money, because he wants to keep teammates and win a Super Bowl, but I'm not overly wowed by his willingness to do this.
Again, don't get me wrong because he's an unbelievable leader and he'd do this without being asked by the interviewer, but I just didn't like the interviewer asking it.
