Those sites are slow/lazy about updating their prospect boards/rankings. NFL.com has Donovan Jackson ranked as the #18 OA prospect.

We're not drafting Jackson we never even met with the guy.

Don't you mean haven't met with him yet? They'll likely be attending the OSU Pro Day, it's not like it's all that far away.
He seems to me to be the exact sort of OL that the Bengals would be interested in. He's a team player and just wants to play wherever he's needed to help the team.

Quote:INDIANAPOLIS — Donovan Jackson offered a simple reason for accepting a move to left tackle last fall.
“At the end of the day,” Jackson said, “I just like winning more than anything else.”
As injuries piled up at tackle, the Buckeyes needed Jackson to move from left guard and make a midseason switch to patch up their offensive line and preserve their national championship aspirations.
After making 31 starts at left guard since 2022, Jackson took over as the Buckeyes’ starting left tackle in November and remained in the role for the rest of the season.
While Jackson’s quick transition was a critical development as Ohio State went on to win a title two months later, it also might have given him a boost as a professional prospect, raising his stock for this year’s NFL draft.
“It shows my versatility a little bit,” Jackson said. “It shows my athleticism as well. I feel like it certainly helped.”
The switch to tackle is not likely a permanent one. Jackson, who had met with nearly half of the league’s teams during the scouting combine this week, said a majority see him as a guard.
“I mean, I’ve played the position for a majority of my career,” Jackson said, “but a lot of teams had a good impression of me playing different positions.”
Jackson drew a tough assignment in his first start at left tackle. As the Buckeyes visited Penn State for a top-five matchup, he faced Abdul Carter, an explosive pass rusher who is in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Carter twice got around Jackson to sack quarterback Will Howard.
But Jackson never surrendered another sack as the starting left tackle. Over Ohio State’s final eight games, including four in the College Football Playoff, he allowed only seven quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.
The experience at tackle helped elevate his pass protection and should carry over as he appears likely to return to guard.
“There are times at guard when there is still going to be an end on you,” Jackson said. “Guys can come out in a rushmen package, sack package or anything like that.”
He said he appreciated the opportunity provided by the move to tackle.
“I’m very grateful for the experience,” Jackson said. “Unfortunately, the way I got it wasn’t the way I wanted it to go. We had fantastic guys who were playing the position. But when my number was called, I went into it with the best mentality”
Asked if he had a preference between guard and tackle in the NFL, Jackson smiled.
“I just like playing offensive line,” he said. “I like playing anywhere around the line.”

If he's there in the 3rd yes but not before that.

They've been updating them all week FYI. Like I told someone else I don't just go by 1 website I look at several and most have him as a 3rd rounder.

He's the 18th best rated prospect by NFL.com, and you're saying he's a 3rd round pick at best? Dude, you're going to lose a lot of draft credibility if you keep following those bullshit sites. The NFL site is pretty much the gospel.

I did a check of several big boards this morning to get a better feel for where Donovan Jackson is currently ranked.
Draftek-63
Mock Draft Database-35
Daniel Jeremiah-31
CBS Sports-31
USA Today-31
NFL.com-18
PFF-58
Sporting News-37
I think that it's pretty clear that the general opinion is that Jackson is better than a 3rd round prospect.

I just spent 45 minutes and typed them all out, but figured it was kind of a waste when i can just say, the lowest i saw him from 10+ sources was PFF @68 overall. Every other one was (couple) mid 1st, many late 1st and early 2nd. (couple) mid 2nd.

My personal preference. I don't want to see another DL in the 1st. Too many picks/misses lately for it to happen again plus we have a few young guys that need to develop or cut bait.
I'd be ok with Booker or Jackson in rd1 but my dream scenario would probably be Warren falling in the 1st. Xavier Watts in the 2nd and Tate Ratledge in the 3rd. That in tandem with the Bengals getting a veteran G in FA.
Probably a small percentage of that being realistic, but i'd like to see it.

I think they're getting ready to replay Ratledge's group coming up on NFL Network.

Would like Rutledge in the 2nd or 3rd if he somehow fell.

That would be interesting as he's one of the worst athletic testing guys to come out in quite some time.

I think Bengals go Edge first round. Maybe, just maybe Starks if he is there.

I'd be shocked if Starks was gone by 17.

I look at this as a basic approach. We have cut a DT and RG. So, should the approach for the draft be G and DT? Of course, all this discussion changes if we get a FA G.
As we know, Guard talent is sparse in the draft, whereas DT class is deep. So do we go G in the first and DT in the second? Also, keep in mind that if Will Johnson falls to us in the first, I don't see how we pass him up. I would not want Jahdae Barron.
Tyler Booker or Membou, if we go G in the first round. If they are gone, then hoping for Jackson, Milum or Zabel in the second.

Not bad thoughts as usual XsandOs. Booker or Membou in the first, one of those DT's in the 2nd and I would like the beginning of the Draft
if we don't get a couple starting Guards in FA. Deone Walker should be a thought for us in the 2nd as well if we go Guard in the first and we
have met with Walker.
