BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded
(03-06-2025, 08:01 PM)SunsetBengal Wrote: If people thought that I was upset over the Bengals letting Jesse Bates walk, this one really takes the cake, in my book.

He's not even gone yet though. They do not have to trade him, and I have a hard time believing that teams that have gone "all in" to win a championship (2021 Rams for instance) didn't have at least one guy on the team that was pissed about their contract situation... A contract they willingly signed not even 2 years ago. There's literally nothing stopping them from keeping Tee, Trey, Ja'Marr, and adding to the team.

Full disclosure... I'm fed up with this FO but the Trey Hendrickson situation isn't the reason why. I do expect them to **** up. They just haven't done it yet.

I’d have to see that because everything I’ve seen shows one good season over the next 3, although when that occurs seems to be kind of random, combined with two less than 10 sack seasons. That basically happened for all the big rushers over the last 5-8 years.

Thanks for posting. This does make me feel better and hopeful this is indeed what I hope they are doing. The Bengals don't trade they're players so I was surprised by this news.

Letting your best players walk dosent make sense when you can’t draft and have the money to extend them. We’ve been looking for Zeitlers replacement since 2016 ? And one of are solutions this season might be to bring him back at age 35 to fill his own void lol. How many years and resources did it take us to replace Whitworth ? Two first round picks , Williams , Ogbuehi , traded for Cordy Glenn and finally had to pay big for Brown. How’s the Jesse Bates replacement search going ? Feel like we’re going to head down that same path with Trey. Think Tobin is capable of hitting on the picks we get back for Hendrickson? Philly is paying everyone and they just extended Baun. The Bengals complained about wasting Burrow in 2024 are they all in on winning in 2025 or just another wasted season.

I would be shocked if they didn't do this.  Regardless of what fans think of the bengals FO, they are excellent at the BUSINESS of football.

I hate the move, and can only imagine it is because he does not fit what Golden wants for the defense (stronger run defense)? Or there are age concerns about extending him long term?

That said, they are selling high.

I will wait to see what they get in return, what they do with the cap space, and how the pass rush looks, before I pass judgment.

Just one of the best players at his position on an historically bad defense. They just need to find a stud for the other side. You have to have a guy like Hendrickson in the AFCN. The only player in D that was worth a damn this year. Unreal Brown family, just unreal.

Nice, lots of good players I like from both teams. Jonathan Allen from Washington, Bergeron, Rokhororo and Pitts from the Falcons etc.

Yeah, highly unlikely Trey keeps up his production from the last couple of years.

I like it. Damn good Guard and a young talented pass catching TE that hasn't been used very well. Younger than Gesicki anyways.

I saw this coming yesterday when I saw Crosby becoming highest paid non QB in NFL history. I literally said “the Raiders just ****** us!”.

I knew he would immediately ask for more.

With that said, Pat Kirwan had a great point discussing it this afternoon. Trey has permission to seek a trade, and he might very well find a team that agrees to his terms. BUT, until that team comes to an agreement to give us what we want in return, he isn’t going anywhere.

What if you can get two good players for the same money? They need more than one great player.
You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American
