Mini camp is tag football..nothing else..Tahj is a backup if he makes the active roster..which I doubt

Tahj will make the team and make an impact as a rookie I have no doubt. Great short yardage back with burst and vision.

He can do what Chase Brown cannot, perfect complement and he fits the inside zone our OL will be running a lot of.

I'm not saying he'll be the next Jerome Bettis or all-pro but I do think he can add a bit to our offense and be a good goal line/short yardage back or just be the change of pace when we need a solid gain.

Matson does a nice job on Brooks , his college production, size/speed and the deepness of this past draft at RB pushing backs down a bit and our  depth at RB with aged vets we have with Perine and Moss, could be interesting camp if Moss shows signs of struggling like last year and Brooks shines in preseason, I could see Brooks maybe sticking as 3rd RB especially now with less $$ hit with Moss's new contract.

I'm a big Tahj Brooks fan probably favorite draft pick.

Brooks isn't the straight line explosive athlete like Chase Brown but his versatile skillset including his running style fits the offense kinda like Mike Gesicki. Tahj Brooks is really good at pressing a hole before jump cutting into another while running duo and inside zone similar to Joe Mixon. He was also by far the best pass protecting RB in the draft class. He wasn't the "highest graded" but he was close while making his own checks and check/releases.

He seems to fit the mold as a first down running back.

Oh yeah, Tahj's jump cuts are sick man and yes, he is a very good pass protector which gets you on the field in the NFL as a RB.

Chase Brown has that crazy acceleration though and he shown he is a willing pass protector as well last year so he is the starter, but I expect Tahj
to break in with Samaje getting older. I don't expect Moss to make the team, he was brought in as a pass protector and wasn't even good at that
from what I saw last season.

I think moss's status will depend if he reverts back to how he played an indy .He'll makes the team...he just could have a bad year last year.

Well, Moss benefitted from a decent run blocking OL in Indy as well. Don't get me wrong I liked it when we picked him up, but he isn't near as
explosive as Chase Brown or Tahj Brooks and we all know how tough Samaje Perine is. Finally have a deep RB room IMO.

I agree with that, I completely believe that he makes the team. In many draft years, he's likely off the board by the middle of the 3rd round. As you mentioned, he brings that power dynamic and should instantly improve the chances of converting critical short yardage and red zone plays on the ground.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

First major hurdle is getting the trust factor of the Burrow and Taylor.  With veterans sitting in front of him especially Perine that has played here that will be a tall hurdle.  If anything he might start to crack some carries mid-season if he is able to jump over Moss

In my mind Brown and Perine are locks but after that it starts getting a little shaky. Will Moss make the team? It wouldn't shock me to hear he's been cut. What's the deal with this Quali Conley?

But yes I'd say there's a good chance Brooks makes the team.

I think he will because he got a $375k signing bonus as part of his paycut. I lean towards thinking the Bengals FO wouldn't spend their time negotiating a paycut, and then write them a $375k check, just to cut him.

Well, I see it as they still wanted a veteran in that third spot, but they drafted RB if he has a heck of pre season I can see them cutting moss and they still save $$ over his old contract

Yep, very deep RB Draft is the only reason Tahj was available in the 6th round. We haven't had a RB with the amount of college production as Tahj for
quite a bit. I know Chase Brown was productive out of Illinois but he was hurt late in his last season there. Also think that Tahj is more polished as a RB
all around, he can block, catch the ball out of the backfield already as a rookie.

Chase Brown had to really work his ass off to get to where he got to last season, it was impressive though that is for sure.
