Eifert Example Pro Bowl Needs Eliminated
#1
The news that Eifert is injured from the Pro Bowl and may not be ready for start of regular season should really tick off Mike Brown and Family ownership. It would have ticked off Paul Brown. Paul Brown was very key in getting the College All-Star Game eliminated. You young fans may not remember this stupid game. Every preseason the top draft picks would play the NFL Champions at Soldiers Field in Chicago. Paul Brown got the ear of other owners as he explained how stupid it was for owners to draft these players and then not have them in camp as they prepared for this meaningless game. Paul Brown also pointed out that the very idea of having a top pick injured in this meaningless game would be even worse. Other owners listened to Paul Brown and agreed and the game was stopped going into the early 1970's. ......The Pro Bowl is football at it's worst, a meaningless game. No matter how they change it to try to make it more interesting, the game is a total flop. The talk of stopping this lousy game has been around for decades, by owners, announcers, fans. .....Paul Brown if alive would point out that owners are sending their best players into a meaningless game that does nothing for the teams they play for. Paul Brown would point out that injuries to top players in this stupid game should make owners eliminate it.....So here we have Eifert who was injured most of 2014 but had a great 2015 season. Thanks to the Pro Bowl, he is injured again. Owners need to eliminate this boring and pointless exhibition game before some top players have career ending injuries in this poor excuse for a game. .....So Eifert is injured and may not be ready for the start of the season per Bengals news, and he did not get injured playing for the Bengals. It should upset Mike Brown and Bengal Nation that he got injured in that stupid Pro Bowl. ....It is time to ELIMINATE THE BORING PRO BOWL.

The Pro Bowl needs eliminated, but it has nothing to do with Eifert.

If we just started eliminating everything that hurt Eifert, the game would stop being played. He's been hurt before the season (shoulder), during the season (elbow) and after the season (foot/ankle).

The Pro Bowl needs to be eliminated because it's 7th alternates versus 5th alternates in a scrimmage game that nobody plays hard in that is scheduled so the two best football teams in the league that year (the two SB teams) can't participate even if they wanted to... It's embarrassing to have Teddy Bridgewater vs Eli Manning be your "Pro Bowl" QBs because over 130 people ahead of them couldn't or declined to attend. THAT is why the Pro Bowl needs to be eliminated, not because of one player's injury.

But you have to factor in the injury factor in this stupid exhibition game.  Eifert is only an example.  Owners should be very ticked off when their best players get injured not playing for their teams who pay their salaries, but injured in this pointless Pro Bowl.   It IS football, and in football, injuries happen.  That in itself right there is reason for all the owners to stop the Pro Bowl.  Every single owner should want this stopped, because every single owners has much to lose by having a top player injured in this game. .....Add to it that you can not bring these players together, have a week of sloppy practice, and expect these players to perform as a team in one weeks time.  That increases the chances of injuries. ........The Injury Factor should eliminate the Pro Bowl forever. ...Owners should insist on it's elimination.  I guarantee you if alive, Paul Brown would be leading the owners to it's elimination after losing this top tight end to injury in this pointless exhibition game. .......Paul Brown got other owners to understand the injury factor in stopping the College All-Star Game, and the injury factor should stop the also pointless Pro Bowl Game. ........Consider if a team lost a franchise quarterback in this Pro Bowl to injury. That should scare every single owner.

How the heck does a player get injured in this fake marshmallow-game? Eifert is an injury machine Cry

The owners make money from the Pro Bowl. As long as they continue to make money, the Pro Bowl has meaning to them.

The bigger issue needs to be that we are now closer to the start of the new season than we are when the injury occurred and he's just now getting surgery.  This team's medical staff is a freaking joke.  Injuries in Cincinnati seem to linger longer here than anywhere else.

They found additional cost savings by merging physician duties with coaches/scouts/GM/daughter.

Might as well put them into a medically induced coma for the offseason and then wrap them in bubble wrap, too. You never know when they'll hurt themselves working out, or playing basketball with their friends, or break their arm going to get pizza, or blow off their fingers with fireworks, or flip their truck, or shoot themselves dancing at a club, or flip a fondue pot onto you and get burns, or fracture your hand golfing, or break your arm playing flag football, or get jumped by a Steeler and his posse at a casino, or, or, or, or, or....

Plus FORGET about minicamps and spring training. Tons of people get serious injuries in those non-games. Get rid of them, too!

Seriously, there's been what, 46 Pro Bowl games? How many actual injuries can you list to me that came from those games? Just invoking the name of Paul Brown doesn't make your point any better. If you want to get rid of the Pro Bowl, there's PLENTY of perfectly valid reasons to do so. Eifert is not one of them.

The owners don't make so much off this that they can afford injuries to their best players and often high salary players........If the owners want more money, they would be better off to dump this pointless exhibition game, and perhaps add an extra week of regular season or an extra week of play-offs.  I would choose the last option because there have been teams with 10 wins that don't make the play-offs.  A first week of play-offs where the best non wild card team in AFC and NFC plays the # 6 wild card teams, while all other teams take a week off to get healthy for play-offs.  Those 2 play-in games would be better than the Pro Bowl that is NFL football at it's very lowest form. .....There are other ways for the owners to make money besides this awful played Pro Bowl.

Eifert is not the first player to get injured in the Pro Bowl, but he should be the last as they end this game. So here we have a Bengals star player injured while NOT playing for the Bengals. Owners are crazy to let their best franchise players participate in this thing, because since it is football, injuries can happen. Owners need to wise up and look for a smarter way to make a buck than this game. Plus it is such a boring game that it makes the NFL look bad, it really does.

Injuries is just one of the reasons why the Pro Bowl needs to go away. Its a dumb pointless game, and a cheap means for the league to make more money, but nobody really watches it.

Serious question, did anyone here actually watch the pro bowl this year? I didn't, and I only caught the end of the 2014 one because I was on a ho-hum date and it was on at the bar.

Yeah because EIFERT is just reporting to the team for activities...  there was a slight offseason you know.   and its always better to naturally heal if possible.

I like the idea of the best of AFC vs NFC in theory. However it's not really sensible in the grand scheme of things.

Side tangent: What exactly makes a football game meaningless? All games are just entertainment, from the Super Bowl to the preseason, and it's kind of interesting that some are assigned greater meaning for no other objective reason than because we've chosen to label them as such. Just a little musing. I actually agree and don't like the Pro Bowl.

I'd rather see the "pro bowl" become a skills competition like there used to be. The MLB HR Derby, NBA 3-point contest, NBA dunk contest, and NHL skills competition are always more appealing to me than the all-star games themselves.

Something related to that I'd like to see is a veterans scouting combine. Perhaps the all stars could do the combine drills?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I haven't watched the PB in i'm guessing 6 years.

Sure hope this wasn't taken care of sooner because Eifert didn't want to miss out on his vacation time. I suppose we'll never know the answer to that but as it stands now the Bengals doctors appear super incompetent.

The pro bowl needs to go. It's not really about injury nut more that it's become a complete joke. The players don't try at all and I don't blame them. Since 2010, the winning team scored 49, 32, 22, 62, 59, & 55 points.

I would like to see it replaced with some sort of skills competition.

Some ideas:
-Maybe a round robin game of "PIG" for place kickers. See what kind of trick shots they can come up with.
-Punt, pass, and kick competition. They do this for kids. Who would be the best at this?
-Passing accuracy tests

Even if a surgery is categorized as minor, it's still a surgery. Surgery is often considered a last resort since there are risks associated with any surgery. Eifert likely didn't want to have a surgical procedure unless necessary and thought seven months of healing without surgery would be enough time. It just hasn't progressed enough to feel confident he'd make it back by the start of the season, so he's now getting the surgery.

I completely agree with TLL here. Players can get injured doing nearly anything.

There are plenty of reasons to get rid of the Pro Bowl. I used to like that our players would get acknowledged but now
that doesn't even matter considering all of the alternates. When our team sucked it was nice to atleast see some striped
helmets in the Pro Bowl and the players played harder then. Now it is a joke IMHO.
