The Dolphins appear ready to move on from QB Ryan Tannehill and stories are popping up that reuniting him with Zac Taylor in Cincinnati may be the place Tannehill lands.
Tannehill is a little over a year younger than Andy Dalton and much stranger things than a move like this have happened in the NFL.
Should this QB change occur and with the approval of expected New Head Coach Zac Taylor; What would be your opinion of and reaction to this being Zac Taylor's statement making move ?
Possible Pros & Cons to this move (Draft picks for Dalton/Tannehill's injury history etc) ?

Between Dalton and Tannehill, I'd rather just ride out the last couple of years of Dalton's contract and draft his replacement either in 2020 or 2021 if he fails to deliver during that time. Where it stands now, I do not want to pay him the big money he's going to ask for.
Everything in this post is my fault.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it if it's due to trading Dalton for draft picks AND drafting a franchise QB.
Otherwise, it's a stupid move (unless he takes a cheap deal to be a backup).

If I was looking at them just as bridge QBs I'd go with Dalton because he better with the intellectual part of the game along with excellent ball placement.
I believe Dalton would have more to teach and be a better teacher to a young QB.

What exactly has Tannehill done in comparison to Dalton's career?

I’m out if that happens. I’d rather have Dalton. I’m fine with upgrading but that is not an upgrade. I’m still pretty apathetic about this franchise even after making a legitimate outside hire like I wanted. If they make a joke of a move like that I’m done. The last few years have done a real number on my fandom and interest in the league as a whole. I’m just kind of in a wait and see mode since they didn’t hire one of Marvin’s protégés which would have been it for me.
Hate to say it but I think from here on out I’m probably going to fall into the fair weather fan category (at best) unless Taylor can turn this thing around in a hurry and reignite my love of the bengals and NFL.

I just wonder when people are gonna accept that Andy's deep throws are average at best. Yea, go ahead and pull out some statistics saying he is top 10 at deeps balls. I'm saying anyone with AJ Green is gonna have a good deep ball percentage. Also explains why we haven't really gotten Ross jump started yet either. He's not a jump ball specialist like AJ, you have to actually be able to hit him in stride, that is how speedsters work.

I'd say Dalton has had a better career.
A move like this would say more about Zac Taylor and his desire to work with Tannehill again.
I would personally be mortified unless Zac was going to use Tannehill to prepare a Drafted young rookie of Zac's choosing.
Zac thinking Tannehill could be a longer term option would take away my enthusiasm for getting Zac here.
Not sure what other Posters would think of this.

I think Dalton is an incredible person. His wife is an incredibly lady. Everyone should admire and respect all that he and his wife have done for Cincinnati on the field and in the community.
Tannehill for Dalton no way.
Tannehill plus a couple of high draft choices for Dalton yes.
We are heading into a rebuild stage. I do not agree with those who think we have a strong roster and are only a couple of players away. Cleveland and Baltimore are heading up and the Steelers are the Steelers. Both our o line and linebackers are awful and that cannot be fixed in one year.
The new coach will want his own QB if they can get that person. Both Dalton and Tannehill are/would be bridges to the new guy.

Yep,
If it's trading Dalton to move up and get a QB and Tannehill is just insurance, ok.
Just swapping Dalton for Tannehill to be the man no thanks !

Would be a stupid move, in my opinion. Tannehill's cap hit is over 26M this season. No wonder the Dolphins want to move him..

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Keep Andy, draft his replacement over the next couple of years, groom him to take over. It works out pretty perfectly, IMO.
I think these reports will end up being as accurate as those that said Hue Jackson was bound to be the next head coach, Vance Joseph is assuredly going to be the new DC, Lazor is totally going to be Taylor's OC, etc. They're just making predictions and trying to connect dots whether there's any indication the Bengals are going to head that way or not. They know (or at least assume) that Bengals fans are cynical enough to believe anything they throw out there IMO.

Yuck. Not just yuck...YUCK! Why would they do that? Tannehill has never struck me as anything special. He's like a less talented, less intelligent version of Jay Cutler.

I'll be a total homer and disagree. Cleveland hasn't had a non-losing season in 12 years - even the Bengals of the 90s never went on a streak like that - and they beat one good team all of last year. They're improving, but I'm nowhere close to being convinced that they've arrived yet. Baltimore is one dimensional, almost choked the division away last year, and has been pretty up-and-down over the last few years. The Steelers are losing their best player for the 2nd year in a row, and while they may very well bounce back that team has some serious lockerroom issues. As flawed as the Bengals are I'm just not convinced that they are that out of it.
I'd be ticked if they just threw in the towel.

i hate the thought of it.
Tanneyhill is the worst decsion maker in the NFL.
rewind to the Bengals game last year.Tanneyhill couldnt even beat a Austin led defense.
the dumbest move this franchise could make exiting Dalton and bringing him.in. keep Dalton as a bridge for 2 years. like or hate Dalton he has a better TD to INT than Tanneyhill. this might be a power 2 back offense anyhow ala the Rams

I'm with you.
But in this scenario; Zac Taylor holds a press conference to talk up Ryan Tannehill and how Zac believes that Tannehill has a lot of good years left.
Zac wants to go to battle with Ryan and you are watching the Press Conference.
Zac then says that we won't be drafting a rookie QB high anytime soon and Ryan will be our guy.
In Zac we trust or are you totally deflated as a fan... ?

As it's been noted here.....if you get a haul in a trade for Dalton, yes. Pull the trigger, although I wouldn't be too stoked with that much money tied up in Tannehill.
If he comes in here and says that Tannehill will be the future? I'll start having some serious reservations about his judgment. Hopefully, in that instance, the FO steps in and vetoes that move. Too much money to get a very poor man's Andy Dalton.

I mean, if you look closely, the NFL has certainly devolved into trading millions of dollars for draft picks, they just hide it really well.
