Anthony Lynn (likely to be fired) has more wins this year than Zac does in his career - THE PISTONS - 12-18-2020

Lynn record:

0-1
9-7
12-4
5-11
5-9 this year.

All kinds of intense media scrutiny that he's about to be fired. Yet here, 4-24-1 and they assume we're keeping Taylor. So 5 wins 2 years in a row after a 12-4 win gets coaches fired in other cities.

Simply put, the Bengals do things that NO other team would do.

Here, back to back 2 and 2.5 win seasons and some fans even make the excuses. NO aspect of this team has looked noticeably better than last year...with the exception of adding Burrow.

Lets look at Taylor. Wins above replacement is a baseball stat. IF Tomlin were our HC, would we be better, worse, or equal? Would we win 1 game? 0 games? 2 games? Or would we min more games?

That's what a 'winning culture' is. Not keeping a coach with 4.5 wins and saying we'll win one day!

RE: Anthony Lynn (likely to be fired) has more wins this year than Zac does in his career - t3r3e3 - 12-18-2020

This team is owned by losers and run by morons. There is no incentive to produce a winning organization because revenue sharing ensures the team turns a profit each year. Family members working in positions they’re unqualified for will receive a paycheck, and the team will continue being solvent because it resides in the nation’s most popular sports league. Mediocrity and a failed model model have made the Family very wealthy, so why would they change?

The best thing that could happen to this organization is by some miracle Katie and Troy gain primary control and sell the team to someone that wants to win. Barring that, expect a continuation of attempting to win on the cheap. Thirty years have told us that winning on the cheap is not a winning strategy. The team has seven winning seasons in the past 30 years.

I like Lynn, and feel a little bad for him honestly. The Chargers really should be better than they are though. Herbert has been a stud, and they have some elite playmakers on both sides of the ball.

But most teams don’t accept mediocrity. Only we would accept historically bad.

Anthony Lynn has a bit of that Marvin go uber conservative with a lead, and mismanage clock/timeouts in him. Several of their losses the past couple of years can be attributed to Lynn’s bungling. Lynn has some decent points, and the players seem to play for him. While he’s not Adam Gase or Zac level bad, consecutive 5 win seasons with that roster is a recipe for a pink slip.

Mediocrity is 8-8.

The Bengals are accepting terrible because they think that one day things will turn around. They don't seem to have any urgency for when that turn-around actually happens.

The longer it takes for the team to get back to being competitive (which requires a winning record), the less attendance, merchandise, and ultimately interest will be for this team until they get there.

Which is why we are likely a couple more years away from the FO realizing it isn't working (for 3 more weeks we can hope not), and a couple years after that of a rebuild before we are competitive (if they hit on the HC).

And just like that it's 9 years in the lost decade part deux.

People think it's outrageous to think we are in the thick of a lost decade, but these years in NFL terms go quick, and in the blink of an eye, a decade is here.

1.) It would be surprising if Lynn is fired at this point. The Chargers are showing major process and seem like a team with major upside.
2.) Zack is going to be fired eventually wouldn't be surprised if it is sooner than later. Were probably going to loose by 30 + points on Monday. So I would not be surprised if Simmons is named interim coach next Tuesday.

ZT is on pace to win 3 games in 2021

2019 - 2-14
2020 - 2-1-13 (assuming 0-3 rest of 2020)

2021 - Proj. 3-13
2022  Proj.  3-1-12

He is great at press conferences, ML giggled and was bad at press conferences. That was what I was told when he replaced ML.  Smirk

Living in LA, and seeing how he operates..he does seem to have a respect (even in a losing yr) that ZT definitely does not have
I would welcome this guy as HC and even an HC/GM hybrid role Ala Marv. Question would be if he would want the gig?

Absolutely.

And what did people say after they saw The Lost Decade come to an end? They never wanted to go through that again.
So people need to stop being willing to just accept it if it happens.

The Bengals are now 5 years straight of losing seasons. If this team doesn't make enough changes and quickly, they could add multiple years of losing on top of that.
If that happens, it's exactly what people said they never wanted to go through again.
People should be demanding for urgency from the organization. Stop supporting the team if they continue to only make small improvements.

With the half ass front office in Cincy the best we can hope for is a new DC and Offensive Line coach next year. Even thats a stretch...

Think about it when Callahan became available this year we should've grabbed him IMMEDIATELY..but Zac stuck Jim "The Turd" Turner...  how telling is that?

Did Taylor stick with Turner or did Bill Callahan get asked and say he wasn't interested?
I can imagine after the fiasco in 2019 when no one wanted to be the DC, the Bengals probably didn't want to end up with no one as the OL coach.

Seems like the national criticism of Lynn is that he makes awful game-time decisions and blows games/throws games away on a near weekly basis.

Callahan was seriously considered in 2019. The idea of flipping a draft pick to Washington to get him was considered. In 2020, Callahan's name wasn't mentioned once. The FO was happy to roll with Turner.

That's the point though, Lynn has been way more successful there over 4 years than our coaches have been, and they won't accept it. They want to build one.
