1 win away from being in argument for best Bengals team ever - Bengalfan4life27c - 01-24-2022

We are currently 3rd based on results we need to make SB to be compared to 81 or 88 teams. Another note Huber needs 96 yards to move into the top 50 all time in playoff punting yards. Another thing to keep in mind this same Titans line that sacked us 9 times held Mahomes to 3 points. I don't think the Chiefs D is as good as the Raiders. We are the better team and should win our D will be best they have faced with Logan and our secondary healthy. That said Chiefs will be tough to beat on the road and it would help us to limit presnap penalties.

Kevin’s almost record is a dubious one. Kind of Like Crash’s all time minor league HR record.

Yeah sorry don't care about all time punting yard record.

For all I care he never kicks again because he's not needed

This is already the best team ever, and really it’s probably not that close

And what has led you to that conclusion exactly?

Last night was terrible Defense from the Chiefs, just the Bills were even worse.

Not to mention how Burrow and Chase dismantled them the last time we played them. Burrow for 4 TD's, 528 yards and
Chase for 266 yards and 3 TD's. Best games of their career against the Chiefs Defense. Raiders at least slowed us down.

Fixed it.

The 88 and 81 offensive lines maybe best in the league. Along with all pro QBS with weapons on offense 88 team generated more turnovers the LB core on the 81 team was exceptional.

True, terrible refereeing in that game sure helped out that Raiders D.

Yes, need to win this next one then this team like you said will be legitimately maybe our best team ever.

We win the SB? Without a doubt. Mellow

‘88. O line was better. RBs we’re better. D line was probably better. TE maybe a wash.

The Raiders slowed us down due to our own deficiencies on offense. They gift wrapped us multiple touchdowns yet bad play calling and reads cost us.

Buffalo was the 5th best offense in football. New England, top 5 defense, they destroyed them. KC the second half of the season was top 5 in every single defensive metric, yet Josh Allen carved them up too. You cant defend a QB like Allen, it’s impossible.

If you think KC is going to play Chase straight up single coverage man again you’re wrong. They’re going to take a page of the Titans book and shut him down with double teams. Chase had a negative impact against Tennessee, a team a bunch of posters around here were saying was the worst secondary in football. Over half of his yards were due to a missed tackle on a 5 yard pass. The rest of the game he was invisible. Tee Higgins and Boyd better step up because we’re not going to get two lucky bounces again on defense.

I'm not sure I would go that far.

Wtf does this even mean? Ask Tee Higgins if Chase drawing so much attention is a “negative impact.” What an ignorant statement. And downplaying his best play of the game because of missed tackles is ridiculous. He’s 3rd in the entire league in YAC (after only Kupp & Deebo). That play is literally what he does. Also, he certainly wasn’t “invisible” on that huge play at the end to set up the game winning FG.

Who said the Titans were the worst secondary in football? Also, Chase had a negative impact? WTF?

Yeah, the Chiefs would be idiotic to play single coverage on Chase true and yes Tee and Boyd better step up and I think they will
against a Defense that looked terrible against the Bills and didn't even look that good against a terrible Steeler Offense in the first
game, a team that shouldn't of even been in the Playoffs, the Steelers were that bad.

If we have decent OL play somewhat we score on that Chiefs Defense and we score often. Our Defense will be key and how we
tackle and also turnovers as always will be key. The Bills are formidable on Offense no question but so are we and we will play
much better against the Chiefs Defense than we did against the Titans D, guarantee it.

RE: 1 win away from being in argument for best Bengals team ever - TecmoBengals - 01-24-2022

So let me understand. Chase does the following against the Titans:

- Big 50 yard play to keep us in the game and get points on the scoreboard.
- Catches a ball that leads to the game winning FG.
- Has over 100 yards receiving.

Chase had a negative impact against the Titans?

Edit: 3 WTF posts about Chase having a negative impact is LOL worthy.

The Steelers, Patriots, Jaguars, and Colts all held Buffalo to 16 or fewer points, so impossible is probably a BIT strong. In fact, the Jags held them under 10pts.

Titans have best front in the NFL good luck for the Chiefs in duplicating that.

RE: 1 win away from being in argument for best Bengals team ever - Forever Spinning Vinyl - 01-26-2022

This team is in the same argument as those teams already.

There are only three Bengals teams to play in a Conference Championship game.

There are only three Bengals teams to win two playoff games.

'81 and '88 - both played 19 total games
'21 team has played 19 games and about to play their 20th and hopefully 21st.

Too tired to look it up but I don't remember too many Bengals teams being 5-3 on the road and they should've been 8-0 (Chicago, NY Jets and Cleveland week 18)

This team will also be all alone in the category just made up in my mind of the amount of new fans added to the fanbase.

Errr...

1981:
14-5 (lost SB)
3rd scoring offense
12th scoring defense

1988:
14-5 (lost SB)
1st scoring offense
16th scoring defense

2021:
12-7 (currently in AFCC)
7th scoring offense
17th scoring defense

This year has the most losses, hasn't made the SB (yet), the worst scoring offense, and the worst scoring defense of the three.
