And you are asking the questions for the potential DC candidates to answer. What is the question that you'd most like to be answered about an area of concern that is important to YOU?

I'll get it started. Q: In this day and age of limited hours of contact between coaches and players due to stipulations in the NFL CBA, how do you address the issue of draft picks that were very good players in college, yet are failing to be developed into solid players by the team that drafted them?

I would ask no questions. I would just hand him a plate of fries and a glass bottle of ketchup and then watch.

This exercise is for the DC interview, not the OL coach...  Cool

So, you mean to tell me that there are over 250 posts in the DC "wish list" thread, yet none of these fans who claim that they want a certain individual to be DC can come up with one cohesive question that if THEY were the interviewer, that they would ask? Where are my true fans here?

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Housh - 01-11-2025

First thing I’d ask is how he felt if we spent 65-70% of our cap on offense for his whole tenure here?

I’d ask how he would develop draft picks and I’d ask how he planned to involve players like Myles Murphy and Dax Hill

RE: YOU are the interviewer - J24 - 01-11-2025

Do you believe in pressing the Wrs or playing off coverage on Wrs?

What's more important stopping the pass or the run?

Are you coaching to win the game or not to lose the game?

That might be a slight exaggeration, but definitely a worthy question.

All worthy questions, but as to the bolded. I would think that stopping the run first would be paramount, as once you force a team to become one dimensional, your pass rushers can just keep coming every down.

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Goalpost - 01-11-2025

Do college EDGES like Jaylon Walker or James Pearce Jr fit into your defense scheme?

Reason being....we had the league leader in sacks but were only 25th overall. Our 3 linebackers...Pratt, Wilson, and Davis-Gaither totaled 0 sacks among themselves.

RE: YOU are the interviewer - BFritz21 - 01-11-2025

How can you scheme your defense to play to our players' strengths and what realistic free agent signings and draft picks would help to achieve your vision?

"Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Goalpost, but we've already drafted our 1st round DE of the future. His name is Myles Murphy, he did well in a few college games, you'll have to work with him until his contract expires. Once Murphy's contract expires, you'll be allowed to have a (small) voice in the war room when we select our next DE."

What's more important to you, scheme or player?

Great!!! Scheme is meaningless when players lack the skills and motivation to execute

If guys don't have the skills and motivation, they don't belong in the NFL, regardless of scheme.

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Luvnit2 - 01-11-2025

I would give him game film of every defensive snap in 2024.

Then tell him to review the film.

1. Identify 10 bad defensive play calls and explain why. Was it scheme or poor player execution?

2.Identify the poor tacklers. What techniques would you teach them to improve?

3. Would you run more 4-3 base or 3-4 with our personnel. Who were the weakest links on the 2024 team? Why? How would you take our current roster and use them in a 3-4 defense? Who would you replace and why.

4. What would be your goal in year 1 for allowing average running YPG? Passing YPG?

5. What defensive scheme fits best in the AFCN?

6. If the FO and ZT gave you the opportunity to choose 1 defensive player available to start your reign, who would it be and why?

I am no expert, but I would want to see how the DC candidate prepped for the interview based on my requests.

Ok coach we're most likely going defense with our first round pick. Here's a list of 12 guys from various positions that may be available at 17.

What position/player do you pick and why?

RE: YOU are the interviewer - KillerGoose - 01-11-2025

Given the personnel currently on the roster, what base coverage would you feel is the most effective to install from?

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Housh - 01-11-2025

I think at our best we are a cover 2 man defense. This is ofc with Turner, Hill, Stone, and CTB being the secondary.

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Soonerpeace - 01-11-2025

Obviously he’s a coach and has access to video of the team. I would ask what are the strengths of the defense? What are the weaknesses of the defense? What would be your first order of business?

RE: YOU are the interviewer - Bilbo Saggins - 01-11-2025

Do you think that you are capable of coaching the best defense in the NFL for the next year? The next decade? Why or why not?
