They could just turn to the draft and think Volson and Ford are their vets.

It’d be nice to sign a quality starter but I’m thinking it’ll be bargain players.

Hope I’m wrong and they sign one.

I wonder what Zeitler would cost? He is a short term solution and would not be playing next to Sewell here, but still.

Define big? Cappa was making over $10 mil. I doubt we spend $20. But $12? $15? Maybe.

If we keep Hendrickson I think a mild spend on a DE (Smith sounds fine, Ossai, Young) + a pick would do it.

The FA TE class stinks and we brought Gesicki back. We don't need a starting QB, OT, RB, or C. With Pratt & Stone still here, a big FA spend on LB or S seems unlikely.

CB or DT maybe? But a high DT pick gets us to 4. And we are not in dire need at CB: CTB, Turner, Hill + Newton/Ivey.

For me, at least one bigg-ish spend on a G is where the most $$ should go. We have upwards of $30 mil. More if Tee/Chase deals get done & we release Moss. A Burrow restructure would mean a lot more.

It seems like they are trying to retain their own above all else.

I could see them re-signing Trey and Chase and cheap-ing out at guard.

We’ll see.

Interesting, given the depth of the DL in the upcoming draft. I suppose this takes nose tackle off the draft board, with Slaton and McKinnley Jackson.

His PFF grade is bad.  Looks like another Bengals "value" signing.

RE: Happy Tampering Day - RunKijanaRun - 03-10-2025

Meh. 15 mil is a lot for Slaton. Too much, frankly.

I don’t know much about this guy but the Packers run defense has been pretty bad the past several years. Their pass D has been solid, but they get run over. Last year they improved a bit.

His run stop win % is the highest in the league last year.

What is Slaton's PFF grade? Not that I would take it terribly serious for a rating for a nose tackle, as I remember games where I was very impressed with DJ Reader and he ended up with a poor PFF grade. Probably a hard position to rate.

That’s good to hear. The packers run D was much better last year. But the previous several years they got run through right up the middle.

Giving $7.5 mil a year to a replacement level guy is dumb. Especially with a deep DT draft.

BJ Hill is a B+.
Perine is a B.
Slaton is an F.

Our two rookies graded out higher than Slaton.  Why even sign someone like that?  It leaves less money for a quality DE or RG.  Seems like a waste of money that could have been spent better towards another position.  Dont like the signing at all.

45.3. Tufele territory.

This is Hilton's money or money better spent on a guard.

Will Fries is in talks with the Vikings...still no bowel movement from Mikey.

Didn't watch enough to know anything about them but there are differences in schemes. Two years ago they were a 3-4 with him playing a 0 technique I believe and last year they moved to a 4-3 with him playing a 1. From what I can see about their scheme they shoot gaps so my guess is part of their run defense issues did occur at the second level but would need to watch tape.
