We need to focus on the run game and setting up guys for yards after the catch. Zac was a bad OC at every stop...until Burrow got here. There are things he's done well and I'm fine with him being coach. But there are things he's done consistently bad. Sadly I don't see this franchise doing anything in part due to Burrows injury and in part to them doing close to the bare minimum. I truly hate to say this but Palmer may have been right in what he said when Burrow was coming out. The franchise needs to feel the urgency to get better and not be complacent with the status quo. Higgins would just catch crazy 50/50 balls deep and Chase would catch a 12 yard throw and take it 65 yards. Zacs winning scheme is "Chase is out there somewhere". What we didn't know is that was Burrow's way of asking for help RE: If Burrow is out Zac will be exposed - oncemoreuntothejimbreech - 11-27-2023 (11-27-2023, 10:35 AM)Soonerpeace Wrote: Appreciate it And I appreciate that after 3 plus decades of the media’s inability to reliable report what Mike Brown is thinking, along comes a hero. A random Oklahoma Sooner fan who infiltrated the notoriously private Mike Brown’s sanctum sanctorum to surreptitiously inform us what Mike is thinking when there are no media reports to confirm and we are left to wonder between annual state of the franchise interviews. God bless your little heart, sir. You've removed something from your game and replaced it with nothing. If Mixon could break a tackle or make someone miss here and there, I'd be totally down with what you're driving at. He's not doing that, and being fair, the line is not doing him a lot of favors either. They need to fix the run game to make it efficient, not necessarily just running to run. Now's a good time to try some things, but then you're admitting you're giving up on the season. I'm not sure how well that would sit with the locker room. It's a tough situation. I'm not saying they made good adjustments, but I do think they changed up some things to protect Burrow and his calf. He tweaked it against Baltimore and set things back a little. RE: If Burrow is out Zac will be exposed - Bengalfan4life27c - 11-27-2023 Chiefs have an explosive run game so do the Eagles. we already know about the 49ers even the Bills are running better as of late, We are almost identical to the Chargers how many playoff games have they won. At some point you need a running game to take pressure off of an elite QB it shortens the game helps the defense rest. Most importantly it keeps your QB playing. We made a commitment to running the ball a couple years ago it got us to a SB then we disregard what is working maddening for a little over the minimum we could have kept Perine now he is helping Broncos win football games. I’m totally dumbfounded. You are a complainer non stop so step up big boy. How many games should we win. Don’t be shy. You will never figure it out, nevermind. RE: If Burrow is out Zac will be exposed - 740Bengal - 11-28-2023 They are two types of fans, and this is how that correlates to Zac Taylor. 1. Casual fan who just watches the game and cheers for big plays, follows on phone while wife drags him to the mall or to eat at Applebees after church and thinks Zac is good because the Bengals have been winning games. 2. The true Football people who dissect the game as they watch, watch the offensive line every play, look at play design etc, who understand Zac Taylor is low-tier at play calling at best, but won't give up play calling because he thinks he is some kind of guru...WHEN LITERALLY NOTHING ON HIS RESUME should give him any indication that he knows what the hell he is doing play call wise. 3. Example...do you see Joe Goodberry coming to the rescue of Zac Taylor? No because he is a football guy, not an Applebees/Mall Guy... if you think Zac Taylor is competent you are a casual. 4. If you fall into category 2 you probably laid the points with Minnesota last night. It reminds me how when we were going one and done each year how we were talking about how being a playoff team every year beat winning a SB and then having losing seasons. My how the turn tables. Since Tom Brady left New England how is Bill Billichick doing? Burrow is a generational talent at the pro level. Zac will look like a bum without him over the rest of the season. Next season could be different. The Bengals made some choices in recent drafts to forego early RB/TE/OL picks in favor of Dline & secondary. The real debate will be Higgins. What could they have hauled in for draft picks had they traded him in 2023? That might have been a huge missed opportunity for a guy they likely can't afford to keep beyond 2024. He's playing like a HC who had the greatest QB ever replaced by a crappy bust to pair with a franchise that hasn't picked higher than 10th overall in over 20 years. He might not be completely dead as a HC. Maybe he is, maybe not. He hasn't had a chance to draft can't miss talent like Burrow and Chase, and he's been doing it for a lot longer than ZT. Comparing Belichick to Zac is nonsensical. Bill proved his worth as a master defensive mind. Multiple teams wanted him to be their HC decades ago. Zac was not a good play caller for the one month in Miami and very bad in his one year at UC. He failed his way into a WR coaching job for one season, then QB coach for one season. We have had issues with his scheme and play calling since he arrived. I do think Zac is an ok head coach that will become a good one. But he is no Sean McVay, Reid, or even McDaniel when it comes to controlling the offense. There’s a million guys he could have chosen instead (college, assistants, etc) if he didn’t want Pollack. No Hobby was Zac’s. |
