Mims' pec injury does not seem to be that big of a deal, and T Brown simply had tightness in his back. He can stretch that out. We still have Ford, so we still have 1,2 and 3 tackles on track to be good by game 1. Lol yeah, sure he can. Back issues don't just "go away" with a little rest and stretching, it's even worse when you're huge and out of shape like Brown is. Weather Mims heals up in time for week one is not the point. The point was that he wasn't supposed to be thrown in as a day 1 starter, and now that he's injured, attempting to play while that pec is still healing may cause it to linger and hamper him later this year. Face the reality, the Bengals need another "serviceable" RT, if not one capable of playing a short to medium stretch of games. Once again, the Bengals inability to successfully draft and develop at the OL position comes back to bite them, as there is essentially nothing on the bench. You know about back issues more than most Sunset. This is a bit concerning even if I think Mims will be ready to go by the opener. With the Chris Evans injury (out for the season now) and Trent Brown's tightened back we need a RB and a RT when cuts happen. Cochran can play RT but he had a bad penalty in the last preseason game and we all know Carman can only play LT when he is mentally up to it. Cody Ford is serviceable but I think we can do better. BTW, it is whether, not weather lol RE: Daily observations from camp - ochocincos - 08-16-2024 (08-16-2024, 01:41 PM)Whatever Wrote: The RB3 won't have increased ST's snaps because the RB3 and RB4 were on the field at the same time most of the time. For example, Williams was the Up man on Evans returns. He can't play two positions. Ahh. I never am able to see who all is out there on ST because the camera is usually too far back other than the returner. More than likely the Bengals will keep 4 RBs like they have every year. I just don't personally see much value in the 4th RB, but I know some (many?) don't agree with that. I don't like the idea of putting Hudson on PS. Yea, he's been mostly on the PS in previous years, but he showed last year he deserves to be on a 53 somewhere. And I want him on the Bengals 53. It was a head scratcher to me to draft 2 TEs after signing 3 guys in FA. I would have looked for a RB where McLachlan was selected. I had Vidal or Gore Jr. targeted for Rd 6, but Vidal didn't quite make it to Bengals that round and Gore went undrafted. I thought Gore Jr. was pretty dynamic though, and I'm glad he's getting a chance with the Bills right now. I don't dislike McLachlan as a prospect though, and I hope he can show some receiving and blocking chops in these last couple preseason games. Hope we can stash McLachlan or All or both on the PS now. Actually like our TE room now which is a wild thing to say, Gesicki and Sample will make the roster for sure. Just gave the update on Evans, he is out for the year. We need to add at least 1 RB and after cuts there should be a lot of good ones available. Hopefully this is a blessing in disguise. Most of us wanted to cut Evans anyways. Low risk and high reward. RE: Daily observations from camp - jj22 - 08-16-2024 Jenkins was on crutches after practice too and thus our DT depth is washed. Need DT bad now. Hope we can stash McLachlan or All or both on the PS now. FWIW, Bengals do have more than 3 RBs on the roster other than Evans. Elijah Collins, Noah Cain Cain is a hoss from LSU who was used in a rotational role. Collins more of a traditional RB size. Some thought he was going to be a starter in college after hitting up >1000 yards from scrimmage in 2019, but he never played like that again after that due to various reasons. Both are older guys and don't really offer much upside at all other than situational/depth roles though. If Moss is ever out, the rest of the guys haven't shown enough to give confidence the run game wouldn't fall off a cliff. I think what makes the most sense if having 4 RBs is having Cain or Collins as RB4 with a focus on ST. Then if someone gets injured during the season, pick up a vet off the street to backfill if/when needed. Hudson is basically a poor man's Gesicki, and with his age and contract status, if it's close between him and McLachlan, he should be the one they gamble on getting to the PS. Our 3rd string RT is probably not that much worse than other teams 3rd string RT. Just bad timing for injuries. Still have 3 weeks, I bet they will be ok. No point in the Preseason, he has already proven he is decent when called upon IMO. RE: Daily observations from camp - phil413 - 08-16-2024 Someone mentioned gaining Detroit OL depth in exchange for a WR. In another thread I mentioned them for DT depth. Ourlads has Kyle Peko over Brodric Martin, I'd call about Martin and an OL for a WR and a mid to late pick. Maybe if Jones is healthy you get Martin for him. Ideas to kick around, and I still think we can get a solid 3rd RB after cuts. We can't wait on NT anymore though, get one in there now! https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/DET RE: Daily observations from camp - Sled21 - 08-16-2024 (08-16-2024, 02:20 PM)Nate (formerly eliminate08) Wrote: You know about back issues more than most Sunset. We do need a DT and a RB after the new Kris Jenkins and Chris Evans news. I suspect all three will be good to go. |
