I'll throw Corey Taylor into the mix.
Bruce Dickinson as well.

No I know.  He also played himself on a few episodes of Trailer park Boys.  He was a big time train collector. (I think he is in real life)

Layne Staley
Jim Morrison
Kurt Cobain

Good one.

Kurt Cobain for me for sure!

C'mon man...  Ronnie James Dio for metal.

Great voice.  Worked the crowd and did all of theatrics.

Ozzy would be another mention of someone who may not be the greatest singer but went "all in" on theatrics.

David Lee Roth was the epitome of a rock front-man but yes he is a sad shell of his former self.

DLR was not a good vocalist live even at his peak.

Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Audioslave.)

Josh Homme (Queens of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures)

Especially in the dynamic of fronting three of the best at their respective interests

In no particular order

Steven Tyler
Paul Stanley ( to another poster Simmons is not a front man)
Ozzy Osbourne (Sabbath and Blizzard of Oz)
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Rob Halford

I hate to say it, because he is a political asshat, but Ted Nugent used to put on quite a show. Credit where credit is due.

Also, Meatloaf could command an audience.

Stranglehold is such a great rock song.

Yeah that ozzie guy... He sure can dump a bucket of water on someone after shuffling across the stage (that was in 2000)

Saying come on man when its about peoples favorites? Come on man....

Some great ones mentioned for sure.  DLR is great, Van Halen was a favorite growing up.  But my pick would probably be Anthony Kiedis with the Peppers.

That was for Dio.  The guy was a strong vocalist and THE  icon for metal.

That's not just my singular opinion right there.

You're right though about others.

 It's about personal favorites.

Hard to argue with that.

In fact I'd say James Brown beats most of them as an overall entertainer even if he wasn't your style.

^^^^ xxlt beat me to it.  He's 65 yrs old, still plays for over 3 hrs, each show's set list is different from the next, and he will make a person who is indifferent to him like him after seeing him live.

Kiedis was great live back in the 80s and early 90s.  He's still pretty damn good, but age has slowed him a little.
