You can't strongarm players the way they have for so long in today's league. They had issues with it this year with Bell, and it looks like they will have issues next year with Brown. They would eat like a $14 mil cap hit if they trade him next year and they're trying to cling to their "we don't cave to player demands" cred, which is slipping after the Bell fiasco. Yes, you are agreeing with me. The Steelers way or Chuck Noll or any of the NFL teams in the 70's method don't work anymore the way Free Agency and the Players Union works these days. A diva in the 70's would be stuck with a team and fined. These days fines don't work. Heck Bell gave up 14 Million this year. No player in the 70's would give up a season, because we did not free agency or franchise tags. |
