RE: Simple Question on QB attributes - CJD - 09-12-2015 Touch on passes is what separates the good from the great. Drilling balls into tight windows is, even when completed, not great. It gets your receivers plowed and even well thrown passes can be picked if the defender makes a great play. Touch is often times more important than the so called deep ball. I remember in one of the pre-season games, AJ McCarron had a receiver open and just needed to loft it over the cornerback and it would be an easy long completion. But he just kind of chucked it out of bounds. Those passes are one of the most important types of passes that so few QBs can consistently complete. Assuming he has a better than just a noodle arm, I'd take touch over arm strength every time. In terms of Madden stats, if I could have a 80 throw accuracy 95 throw power QB or a 95 throw accuracy 80 throw power QB, I'd take the latter. It comes with the territory. Winning usually softens criticism but not always. |
