RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - lone bengal - 07-23-2019 Good deal for a young ascending player. Makes their lack of free agency spending a little easier to digest. Spending money on our own young talent is always a good idea. Even if the team decides to rebuild next year Boyd can be part of the future because of his age. Same goes for William Jackson III. RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - Destro - 07-23-2019 Very happy...now scared to death. Excellent point, and this offense really uses the slot WR as I understand it. Nice to not have to be looking for one next year. Good job, Bengals. RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - leonardfan40 - 07-23-2019 When he said he wanted sterling shepherd money I said the deal should be done right then. Glad to see him back at a fair price. As long as his production stays where it is he will be cheap year 3-4 based on what other guys will be making at that point. Good deal for both sides. Now on to AJ! RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - HuDey - 07-23-2019 Good move as Boyd will be an important part the rebuild. Bengals Re-sign Boyd - MasonDT70 - 07-23-2019 Great news and at a good price as well. And 4 years is a good length for him to get another good contract in before hes 30. Although i think they’re seriously considering shipping him around trade deadline to a contender if they can pull a first round pick assuming we’re not off to a hot start I love me some AJ but That seems like a steep price for a 31 year old WR who has missed significant time in 2 of the last 3 years. I don't think AJ has done that much to be making more money than he is now when he's getting close to being or is already out of his prime. Much better than letting him hit the open market like they did with Marvin Jones and Zeitler and others. Now for extending AJ. RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - pally - 07-23-2019 Sounds like the team has every intention of re-signing AJ

Rumor is Mike Thomas is about to sign a deal averaging close to 20 Million a year. Contracts aren't done in a vacuum and they are done with cap expansion expected. Thomas is on contract #2 (much younger than AJ) so yes he will command more money than AJ's 3rd contract in my opinion. Easy money now for AJ to get extended. RE: Bengals Re-sign Boyd - Sweetness - 07-23-2019 (07-23-2019, 04:03 PM)Au165 Wrote: That would actually be way below market value. Thomas' numbers are as good as AJ in his prime and he's 5 years younger. It's not really close to the same situation. If we end up paying the same money for AJ at this point in his career as Thomas is being paid, that's not a good deal. This was a big need. Also sends a positive message to some of the other younger players that if you work hard and prove your worth, The Bengals WILL pay you. Of course we've seen that time and again with the Andy, AJ, Geno, and Carlos group of core stars, but Tyler Boyd marks the first of the newer generation of Bengal stars to get what I would call a really nice contract. |
