Just two pets, one cat one dog. The cat was a rescue from the local animal shelter, she is the bomb! She hunts, I've come home to beheaded squirrel carcases, and observed her take down low flying birds. As edged weapons specialist Doug Marcaida, from Forged in Fire would say, "This cat, will Keeeel!". The dog, is just a Yorkie that my mother in law gave to my wife. He's pretty cool for the most part, just not my particular selection of dog.

Keep an eye out or you might come home to a beheaded Yorkie carcass. But on the real: I've read cats place their kills by the door because of a "feed the family" instinct.

Yeah, she's a proud and thankful pet.  When I got out of the truck, she was juxtaposed so majestically by her kill, almost smiling, as if to be "presenting" it to me.  I petted her, told her nice job, and went inside.  I came back to let her in, about 20 minutes later?  Nothing left of the squirrel but a tail..

Exactly what ours used to do; they always show off their kill, I think because that's what they do to their mothers before striking out on their own, kinda like a test.

I've had lots of dogs and cats in my life I've lost count, but I think I'm down to my last pet, an elderly old outdoor cat so boney she's a walking skeleton with fur anymore.
I got so attached to my dogs (and cats to a lesser degree) and always had to give them up or they ran away or got run over by cars or something always came up. Only one died of old age, but I missed them all and ended up crying for weeks on end so...no more. After old Chairman Meow is gone she'll be the last pet I'll ever own. The last dog I got attached to I had about 8 years. I found her as a pup and had to leave her in Texas with my sister, but she began biting people after I left so she had to give her away too.. I really missed her more than I realized.. I just can't do it anymore.
If my wife ever keels over before me she too will be the last..  I REALLY hate loses like that... I think it goes back to abandonment issues with the last two women I was with. All my exes left me in Texas..True story too..

No shame in that.  We got a Brittany when I was 7, and I essentially grew up with him.  Had to have him euthanized when he was 14.  Not a week goes by that he doesn't pop into my mind.   Damnit, now who's peeling onions around here?!

I have an elderly border collie (14). My wife has a nasty, fat black cat that is a massive asshole. We tolerate each other, but I do not claim him. My son has a guinea pig named Ms. Reds (seriously) that is ridiculously pampered for a rodent.

I also have a couple of reptiles. I have one male Argentine red tegu named Fred. He's a hair under 5 feet long. He's very calm and is currently preparing for his yearly hibernation. I also have a female cape rock monitor that's just under 4 feet. Got a few fish, too. Basically, a small zoo.

This made me picture Fred, with reading glasses on, checking off items on the annual checklist.  Hmmm...did I call the gas company?

So yeah; past, 1 dog, 3 cats, dozens of fish (they bred... frequently lol). Current, 1 dog.

Truck's been holding out on us.  Well done. ThumbsUp

Many thanks Big Grin

I tried to post pics, but they weren't working that day, for some reason (hence the horrible editing and multiple posts).

I had am outdoor cat years ago that I nicknamed the terminator. Just every time you looked up he was dragging around a bird, or mouse.

No pets at present but getting a Lab soon.

2 dogs, both miniature dachshunds. I picked out the girl, but she prefers my husband to the point that she growls at me as I pass by when she's sitting next to my husband, or "her man". The male dog, who my husband picked out, likes me best. So go figure.
