RE: Question about Andy at this point in his career. - NKURyan - 08-29-2019 I guess if you're looking for the last game Andy put the team on his shoulders and carried to a win I'd suggest the 2016 win over the Eagles? 332 yards, 2 TDs, QBR of 96.9, no AJ Green, anemic rushing game (Jeremy Hill rushed for 33 yards on 24 carries lol). I'd personally probably give Andy credit for the Baltimore win to knock them out of the playoffs in 2017, but I think a lot of people will point to his lack of yardage (only 222 yards). I was surprised at the low yardage because my memory of that game was Andy being pretty great (and Boyd was basically still a nobody at that point). I'm not sure Andy's even in a position where you can ever point to him as carrying his team to victory... with the weapons he has even if he threw for 400 yards and 5 TDs people would just give all the credit to Green, Boyd, Eifert, etc anyways. There are some QBs that you can watch lead their teams to victory knowing they don't have much around them (Brady, Rogers), and while Dalton's nowhere near those two he also has a lot more talent at the skill positions around him IMO. I'm not going to trash Andy and never have, but my one criticism of him has been the same for years, batted balls at the line of scrimmage, it cost us a pick 6 this preseason already. If he ever cleans up this part of his game, he is good enough to lead this team deep into the playoffs, (barring injury of course). All QB's have balls batted down from time to time, but seems Andy is good for one or two a game and some have really been killers. See: J.J. Watt. Well said, sometimes the quick release gets too predictable and costs us cause the D-lineman can time his jump. The O-line is critical at these times too cause lets say the O-lineman hit Watt in the chest and knocked him down. Those plays wouldn't happen. Also Dalton used to panic when plays broke down, but this was before Van Pelt. Dalton was much better last year when plays broke down, I credit Van Pelt for this. To me, Andy will have to be the man until all of these problems have been addressed. IMO of course! Dalton accounted for 55 of our 79 plays that game (sacks, runs, pass attempts) and all 3 of our tds (2 pass, 1 rush). He had 331 passing yards an a 96 passer rating against the Legion of Boom despite being sacked 4 times. But MOST important is what he did when the Bengals took the field with a minute gone in the fourth quarter down by 17 points against the number one scoring defense in the league. He lead 4 scoring drives by going 13-16 for 135 yards and 1 td passing and ran the ball 4 times scoring another td. Bengals score 20 straight points and win in overtime 27-24. If desperate, fine I'd say it was time But for now I say stick with AD. There's too many holes To make Super Bowls Let's start with a stud young LB.
