Or are you saying 3rd string DL should play more to get more attempts at winning pass rush? Our pass rush has been touted as amazing for the past 5 years. It has not been good in at least the last 3. Geno I am not worried about, but we have no elite DEs and haven't for a long time, and it shows. I agree with all of this except not being worried about Geno. We can ***** about snap counts (fair) all we want, but he does very little when he does get in there. Was like that much of last season, too. I'm saying you can't take a former Pro Bowler, give him only 12 snaps a game, and then blame him for not putting up big numbers. Doubly so when you're busy giving more snaps to worse players. Dunlap had 9 sacks last year, 8 sacks the year before. His 1 sack is a letdown, but it's also tied for the 2nd most on the team right now. There's zero chance he's worse than some of the scrubs getting serious playing time right now. This is where I stand too; It's one thing to not if he sucks AND he's stopping talent from getting on the field. But it's entirely another if the people playing in his spot ARE DOING DICK ALL AS WELL. Get your better player on the field FFS; Bledsoe is a run-stopper and provides 0 pass rush. Liddy is solid, but not the greatest pass rusher. SO put your good guys out there in passing sitches and maybe this shit doesn't happen/we win another game or two. Agree when they get basically zero production on the 12,15,20 snaps they get a game how is upping their snaps to 50 gonna help an aging vet ? Now if they were 24 years old I might agree. RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - Weazzel80 - 10-25-2020 Is Atkins benched because he sucks or is he still injured? Sitting back quietly and being a bench warmer won’t get him off the team. There's some merit in that, but take it to the FO, not Twitter. According to what has been said, they're easing him back in due to the injury. Not sure how legit that is...so you gotta take it with a grain of salt. Would have been a for sure W today if we had one of our highest priced players make even one play today. We need that veteran leadership on D. I'm assuming this was sarcasm as they were there, but not there. The whole "Opt out without the pay cut" idea. No chance to work up a lather, get use to snap counts, set up olineman for moves later on. Add the fact they are both disgruntled and disinterested in playing for these coaches. I wouldn’t expect them to have any impact at this point. Oh, this is just crap. Their legs were cold? Wahhhh. It is a matter of effort and ability. The %s are irrelevant. They have just no impact at all. RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - SHRacerX - 10-26-2020 (10-25-2020, 07:03 PM)michaelsean Wrote: A BS one. Lawsons was a killer. I love his effort and most of his play, but this penalty, on third down, was pathetic. RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - jj22 - 10-26-2020 We would have won if we would have stopped the Browns from hiring Callahan (by going after him to coach our Oline). Look guys. The Browns Oline will dominate us for years to come. No doubts about that. Going to have to score 40 if we want a win against the Browns anytime soon. We will be dominated up front by all the Olines in the AFCN even with a revamped D. Their Oline coaches in the division are too good. One of the reasons we are doomed and will remain in last place for the next decade or so. Dunlap and Atkins played 12 snaps each. No one on the team got a single sack. Only two players even got a QB hit: Lawson (4) and Dunlap (1) RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - Yojimbo - 10-26-2020 (10-26-2020, 10:46 AM)WychesWarrior Wrote: There's some merit in that, but take it to the FO, not Twitter. I’m not going to get upset over social media. It’s the world we live in and how a lot of people, especially gen x, millennials and gen z express themselves. 50 years ago fans would complain if a player talked to a newspaper or radio show. 40 years ago it was going on tv. Now it’s social media. I’m just not going to be the old man yelling get off my lawn. I’m more interested in what was said on the sideline yesterday that caused Dunlap to go after Lou. I get it, but they're both making a ton of money to be impact players. They haven't been thus far, although Geno has been hurt. Carlos has either lost a couple steps, or he's sandbagging. Either way, too much money tied up for that. Hopefully we see more Atkins as he heals, and he becomes at least a little disruptive. I think the ship has sailed on Dunlap, and it pains me to say that. I've always been a fan. I'm not gonna go out and diminish anything he's done in the past in Cincy, but it's time to cut bait. As long as he's been in this league, he should know how the business operates by now. A simple "trade me" would suffice. Sending out pics of the depth chart, and putting your house up for sale is pretty Bush League in my opinion. Yeah, I'd like to know that myself. Lou should be on a very hot seat, to be clear. Dunlap shouldn't even be able to sit in his seat at this point. RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - Wyche'sWarrior - 10-26-2020 Also, guys like Reggie White, that guy on the Colts whose name escapes me at the moment, Harrison, and several other pass rush specialists had their snaps cut way down as they aged, but they still got out there and made plays when called upon, cold legs or not. RE: We Would Have Won If Dunlap and Atkins Played - Yojimbo - 10-26-2020 The Enquirer podcast I listened to yesterday, from Friday morning, said Geno’s snaps have been coming as a 1-technique NT. Can anybody confirm or debunk this? That’s a terrible misuse of his skills if true.
