You have to go with the best guy on the board and he needs to be a high floor/high ceiling type. I think one thing people are missing is that with the salary cap likely to shrink in '21, a lot of teams are not going to be in a position to give up cheap depth to move up for their targeted player. At least 1/4 of the league is $5+ mil over the projected cap before FA even starts. The reason being is I think this will be another class where really good tackle options will be there in the 2nd. The lack of pass rush the last few years is the biggest storyline people seem to gloss over when talking about this team, we simply have none and it's a massive issue. I agree. I think they need 2 DL taken by end of Day 2. RE: TRADE DOWN BENGALS - Synric - 10-29-2020 (10-28-2020, 10:23 PM)Jpoore Wrote: He has 0 technique. He’s a project. He dosent know how win with his hands or having multiple pass rush moves. He like many other top dlineman in this class use his athleticism and that’s it. Is something you hear every year because all edge guys need to learn more pass rush moves and counters. Is he raw yes he has only been an edge guy for 3 years and one playing but that one year playing showed alot. He actually has solid run technique stack create space spot ball shed and tackle. That's why he had 54 tackles 34 solo and 19.5 TFL. Right now he is working on his technique and pass rush moves/counters while also building his body the correct way for the pro game. That is something that is usually done between year 1 and 2. (10-29-2020, 12:59 AM)Hammerstripes Wrote: You absolutely cannot "gamble" in the top 10. Look at Penei Sewell yes he is worth that top pick but he has a question mark in his vert sets because Oregon rarely asked him to do it. It was all Quick and Jump sets because of the offense they ran. Sewell has the ability to be a great in vert sets but its not something that shows up regularly on tape. When ur taking a pick in the top 1-7, they need to be as can’t miss as possible.they should be looked as as having to change a ton. U didn’t hear that with Joey bosa, Nick bosa, Derrick brown, chase young Myles Garrett etc etc. RE: TRADE DOWN BENGALS - bengalfan74 - 10-30-2020 (10-28-2020, 02:54 PM)ochocincos Wrote: I get that, but those teams, just like the Bengals, have had and will have winnable games, yet they are where they are. And we finish with the Ravens who may well have their spot locked up and be playing the 4th string. It wouldn't shock me at all if we still end up finishing in the 5-6 wins range. Honestly, Carl Lawson will be one of the best ones out there. I liked Lawson coming out of college. I think as time has gone on, he's shown to be more effective as a 3rd down specialist than an every down player, though. In fairness to him, it's to grade our edge rushers this year due to our DT group being in shambles. I wouldn't be against resigning him, depending on the price tag, but I would like to see him in a heavy rotation. I don't see any elite guys out there, but I think there are definitely some upgrades. Clowney, Dupree, Barrett, and Judon would be solid adds. There's also a lot of guys that could be 6-8 sack guys in a rotation like Beasley. |
