RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Cuzz from England - 02-04-2022 For anyone who likes British indie music of the 1990s there's a brilliant band from York called shed seven, their song " it's getting better" certainly fits the bill. If I knew how to put up a link to YouTube for it I would, but I don't so I won't. Gets used a lot but lyrics fit us pretty good. I heard them play that song hundreds of times. Regarding the Super Bowl appearance, these lines from "Fire and Rain" seem most apropos. . . I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end. I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again. And, of course, whenever a Bengal fan sees Burrow's impish grin these lines from "You've Got a Friend" come to mind. When you're down and troubled And you need a helping hand And nothing, oh, nothing is going right Close your eyes and think of me And soon I will be there To brighten up even your darkest night And finally, as I contemplate Mike Brown winning his first playoff game ever and now finding himself in the Super Bowl I keep hearing ths strains of a song from another musical giant of the 80's Dan Fogleburg. Can't you all just imagine Mike thinking about his father's legacy and softly signing to himself these lines from "Leader of the Band" He earned his love through discipline A thundering, velvet hand His gentle means of sculpting souls Took me years to understand. The leader of the band is tired And his eyes are growing old But his blood runs through my instrument And his song is in my soul My life has been a poor attempt To imitate the man I'm just a living legacy To the leader of the band I am especially moved by the line about blood running through my instrument. '80's music rules!!! Never disappoints. RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Science Friction - 02-05-2022 Call me crazy but there is just something magical about this Burrow guy. He has the face of a HS kid, that impish grin , and those eyes that lets you know that HE knows another opponent is about to be buried. It's like the guy just wills it into existence. He wants it, expects that it will happen, and, allows the Universe to manifest his desire. And his attitude seems to rub off on his teammates. The guy has won our hearts and , I tell you, he CAN do magic !!! https://youtu.be/O7ONp-GC7vM I never believed in things that I couldn't see I said if I can't feel it then how can it be No, no magic could happen to me And then I saw you I couldn't believe it, you took my heart I couldn't retrieve it, said to myself What's it all about Now I know there can be no doubt You can do magic You can have anything that you desire Magic, and you know You're the one who can put out the fire You know darn well When you cast your spell you will get your way When you hypnotize with your eyes A heart of stone can turn to clay RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Jugular Joe - 02-05-2022 We are the Champions by Queen. It's happening. RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Science Friction - 02-05-2022 https://youtu.be/Dy4HA3vUv2c Burrow is the Man !!! As we clearly saw last Sunday , no need to fear the Reaper. One of my favorite songs of all-time(with or without more cowbell) RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Forever Spinning Vinyl - 02-05-2022 Probably the most mature song David Lee Roth wrote outside of Van Halen. Great 80s ballad and it got little to no airplay. I was shocked when his label never pushed it as a single and also later when they left it off of his album, "Best". The theme throughout the song: Those were good times These are good times We'll be having good times The maker of this video is a Van Halen fan paying tribute. Kind of sad in a few parts with the passing of Eddie. Time rolls on And that's as it should be Here and gone Seems to move so quickly Man, we was happy in our restless hearts It was heaven right here on Earth Yeah, we were laughin' as we reached for the stars And we had some for what it was worth Those were good times Damn good times Those were good times Damn good times Hey, take a look at this picture Can you believe that was you? And who's that standin' there in the corner? Not me Ahh, the crazy things we used to do Sure, we was acting like a couple of kids Good to remember, you know that it is I still feel it like the sun on my skin Maybe that's better 'Cause these are good times Damn good times Talkin' 'bout good times Damn good times So it's one for the money - 31 years! Raiders But that don't make the show, no no - Titans Count to three and I'll be ready, yeah - Chiefs To follow that road, yes I will - To the Super Bowl I see it comin', yeah, and this one is ours We got heaven right here on Earth Ain't nothin' like it when you're reachin' for stars And you grab one for what it is worth - or you can grab two if you get the chance You can tell 'em We'll be having good times Damn good times I'm talkin' good times, yessir Damn good times Mmm, mmm, mmm Mmm, mmm, mmm Mmm, mmm, mmm Mmm, mmm Mmm, mmm, mmm Mmm, mmm, mmm, good times Mmm, mmm, mmm, good times Mmm, mmm RE: CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals - Science Friction - 02-05-2022 ^^^ DLR was something else. Remember the VH song, "Jump"? Diamond Dave said he was watching a news story on TV about a man threatening to kill himself by jumping off a building. People down below were trying to talk the man out of jumping. Dave thought to himself, "Might as well jump." LOL |
