Or putting smoke or tobacco or something else in your ear. Wait, maybe that's bee stings. IDK, what if I was stung in the ear drum? Should I pee in my ear and pack it full of tobacco? Screw it, I'm trying it. See you guys soon when I'm on the Forbes top 10 list. Maybe try the trick they use for cauterizing wounds? Fill'er up with black powder and put a flame to it? No. Then my ear will be on fire and god forbid someone has to HAWK TUAH and spit on that thang. RE: Tinnitus - rfaulk34 - 06-22-2024 (06-15-2024, 11:17 PM)HarleyDog Wrote: Anyone? I can't hear you, literally. Yep. For a long, long time. Ditto for my wife (putting up with me). I think i hear something or, i'll hear most of what she says but don't understand a couple important words. I don't really need the TV up loud and if i make it a point to concentrate on waiting to hear people say something instead of reacting when they do, it helps. My ringing changes in intensity though and i don't know what makes it louder or softer. Sometimes i don't hear it at all while others it's really loud. I guess i'm fortuante in a way because i learned to ignore it a long time ago and it's never bothered me to the point it affects my daily life, other than having to say "huh?" to my wife more than i should. My biggest goal right now is getting her to not go on some rant when i don't hear her and just simply repeat what she said without some lecture. I will say this. It's not altered my bad habit of playing music waaaaayyyy too loud in my car or even in my headphones when i'm at the gym or just listening to music while i'm at home. I've been doing that for as long as i can remember. EDIT: After posting this, i decided to go online and do a few tests. They all said i had mild to moderate hearing loss. The last one i took actually gave me graphs to show where i was. ![]() https://www.mdhearingaid.com/hearing-test/ RE: Tinnitus - HarleyDog - 06-22-2024 (06-22-2024, 11:05 AM)rfaulk34 Wrote: Yep. How were you able to post that graph and your results on here? I screen capped it, loaded it in mspaint, cut it and saved it to my comp before uploading it to my imgbb account. Then just copied the link into my post. RE: Tinnitus - HarleyDog - 06-22-2024 ![]() ![]() That's nifty. I'm gonna do a Hawk Tuah and play with this thing. Homeskizzle? Awww. You touched me. RE: Tinnitus - pally - 06-23-2024 My tinnitus is caused by medication...long term anti-inflammatory use. It gets worse with allergies or other sinus congestion. Some days it is easy to ignore other times it interferes with life. I wish I could give some advice about ignoring it but I haven't discovered the secret. White noise helps at night RE: Tinnitus - HarleyDog - 06-23-2024 (06-23-2024, 09:51 AM)pally Wrote: My tinnitus is caused by medication...long term anti-inflammatory use. I’ve noticed certain things make it worse while nothing really makes it better. I sleep with a fan which helps. But there have been times a fan isn’t available and I can’t sleep. I downloaded a fan app on my phone for this reason. RE: Tinnitus - sandwedge - 06-29-2024 Just turned 58, sometimes it seems like there are a lot of crickets at night in my ears, drives me nuts. I did 30 years in the navy, retired 10 years ago and I was fit as a fiddle. Fast forward 10 years and I'm completely falling apart.. Sleep Apnea, ears ringing, almost blind, can't hear, just to name a few ailments...lol RE: Tinnitus - HarleyDog - 06-29-2024 (06-29-2024, 09:58 PM)sandwedge Wrote: Just turned 58, sometimes it seems like there are a lot of crickets at night in my ears, drives me nuts. Yes I have this too and after yrs of trying to figure out my sudden hearing loss I found this awsome place called the House Institute here in Los Angeles who finally after many many yrs of bad ENT visits managed to diagnose me in a matter of minutes . Found out I have a small bone called a stapes that wasnt moving and guess what, there a surgery for that! I did it 3 yrs ago and that ear is completely fixed, with no tinnitus...Now planning on my other ear Not sure what caused the issue but it was possibly a virus I had 10 yrs ago that screwed up my ears. I missed this the first time around. I have chronic sinusitis. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Gonna have to look into that... RE: Tinnitus - BengalFanInNJ - 07-10-2024 Mine started back in December and it's been annoying since. Background: I tend to produce more ear wax than the average person. Once a year I would have to go get it sucked out. It's pretty cool. Anyway, I thought I had a big clog in my left ear and like an idiot, tried to get it out myself. I just pushed it deeper and now, my ear was ringing. I went to an ENT a few weeks later to get it cleared out and after they did, the ringing was still there. They tested me later on and I actually had better hearing than expected. Still have the ringing though.
