Good to see the cross training, but a meh level video. RE: Rob Rang: Dylan Fairchild=Max Montoya? - Luvnit2 - 06-29-2025 (06-29-2025, 12:41 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: Yeah, I saw that. If they end up equal, then we got the better deal and he was not drafted until round 3 versus round 2. My belief is once drafted, the prosepect label becomes moot as performance is the end goal, not being a Hesiman trophy winner, best in all of college football, but then not becoming best or one of the best in the NFL. I will always take the elite wrestling talent for long term success when things are similar. I saw a video of him wrestling with Sean Strickland yesterday and you can see how insanely fast and agile he is for his size, even though he probably hasn’t wrestled in four years. I might argue Jalen Rivers is the better football player right now. He has some rough snaps at tackle but he's a guard. I was happy to see Fairchilds quickness in the video. Also, I assume he’s not wrestling a lot since HS and he was going up against a professional MMA fighter. You sound disappointed that he didn’t easily pin down a former MMA champion? Doesn’t mean Fairchild will become the next Montoya but he was impressive in that video. I was happy to see Fairchilds quickness in the video. If you are wrestling and have around a 100 pound advantage, yes I would hope he could brute Sean to the ground and hold him there. Same as when I did ju-jitsu and could bully smaller/weaker opponents with year more experience and greater shill levels. The video was unimpressive. Just my take and opinion, and are welcome to your own as well. Love to see the o-line start specializing in prioritizing and training grip strength, but that is another soapbox for another day... I am pretty sure if they were straight up wrestling, you might have seen Fairchild rag doll him, but they are working on hand placement and other movements. How many UFC Champions did you lock up with? RE: Rob Rang: Dylan Fairchild=Max Montoya? - Truck_1_0_1_ - 06-30-2025 (06-29-2025, 12:41 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: Yeah, I saw that. I'd love to see the entire defense prioritizing and training in grip strength as well. We lose a lot of sacks and tackles to weak grip strength. That is impressive for a dude that size, Dylan is quick. A UFC Champ is no schlub even if he is going against a much bigger guy. Dylan looks as quick as Sean there, very cool. ![]() RE: Rob Rang: Dylan Fairchild=Max Montoya? - Essex Johnson - 06-30-2025 (06-29-2025, 11:34 AM)Au165 Wrote: Fairchild was a two time state wresting champion and a highly regarded recruit. Quite the adjustment as a rookie to take on. Fairchild probably has the easier road as he gets to stay at LG where he played last year at Georgia. Lol, yah never know, he is really athletic as he shown at the Combine blowing it up. We will always be comparing Ratledge and Fairchild in their careers as they were on the same team with Mims and everyone was wanting Ratledge before the Draft. But having shorter arms like Ratledge does and having troubles staying low could hurt him in the NFL. Fairchild has him on longer arms and staying low. Interesting, but that is espn and I heard Ratledge was going to be playing Center for the Lions once Ragnow retired. We will see how it shakes out. Would like to see some TC or better yet game footage to know for sure who is playing Center this year for the Lions. I don't put much stock in espn roster lists. I bet they get a ton wrong. Nothing is easy for either, but after 3 years we should have a good gauge on both RE: Rob Rang: Dylan Fairchild=Max Montoya? - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 07-02-2025 (07-02-2025, 12:30 AM)Essex Johnson Wrote: Nothing is easy for either, but after 3 years we should have a good gauge on both For sure. Just saying if Ratledge gets moved to Center that is a bigger adjustment going into the NFL than playing the same position you did in college. We all saw how it went with Carman getting moved to RT from LT. Not saying they are the same player, plus Ratledge has played Center before, just saying it is a big adjustment. |
