There was talk he was slowed in '14 ("only" 90 tackles) due to an ankle injury that he had repaired in the off-season. I was hoping for bigger things; it's just that he hasn't gotten the snaps; as we haven't used a SAM much this year. I guess I should've expected this type of production once he fell into the SAM role. Manny Lawson and James Harrison had similar fates here as well. Meanwhile, Harrison goes back to Pittsburgh and has 2 more good years. RE: The 2015 Regular Season Awards - RoyleRedlegs - 01-02-2016 (01-02-2016, 05:40 PM)Shake n Blake Wrote: This... We just took away the volume. I always felt like Hawk was a victim of where he was drafted, similar to Dan Wilkinson and Justin Smith. Pack fans were expecting some 10 sack per year dominating force, and that just wasn't him. Solid player though, and I've heard some Packers fans who felt the same way. He QB'd their defense and was good for 100+ tackles and some plays every year. I never thought Hawk would come here and be an all-pro, but I do think he could be better than Maualuga at MLB for us, but obviously Rey M is firmly entrenched in that role. This could be shared by many but since Dalton gets the blame, he should also get the credit. OMVP- Eifert while not a true MVP, he was a huge playmaker that was a reason for Dalton's success DMVP - Atkins - another that could go so many ways, but Atkins is such a disruptive force that just punishes OLines. OSTP- Adam Jones - could argue the DMVP and even the MVP, this guy has always put us in positions to win games. MVC- Gotta go with Vance Joseph though Mark Carrier has a case as well. The DB play this year has been pretty decent. ROY - Well not many impact plays from our rookies, however Jake Fisher has played the most and has had some decent plays, almost got a TD or 2 as well. CBPOY - Burfict - Atkins came back last year and it is good to see him in form but Burfict has impacted our team after missing almost a year of PT. BOPOY- Eifert - this year people got to see him for the first time and all year long defenses haven't had any luck stopping him. He had one down game against Houston and does have some durability concerns but he truly broke out this year. UCOY- Mark Carrier - only fair since VJ got the MVC. As been stated the DB play has been great. MIPO- Dalton again - while I don't think he "improved" he definitely opened up some eyes and has helped silence some of his critics. LIPO - AJ Green - I know some won't like this selection, but it is true. Some of the same issues I have noticed in year 1 still seem to be present in year 5. Fumbling at the end of games (though only once this year), giving up on routes or not tracking the ball (Denver) and not attacking the ball and just waiting for it to come to him. However he is still a top player. MIPD- Iloka, he has turned into a solid SS and has been very instrumental on the back end of things. LIPD- Lamur though V. Rey could be swapped with him. I just don't see them consistently making the plays at the LB position. Burfict and Rey M. seem to be the impact LBers. MSPO- This is tough as non are surprises. I would go with Gio Bernard. His production was better than Hill's and that was a surprise. MDPO- The above led me to this one. Hill is the most disappointing player for me. His production dipped way down. Maybe it is just a slump and he finally got that big run he had been looking for all year and that he picks it up in the playoffs. MSPD- Another tough one as not many surprises, so gun to my head I would go with Dennard. Sure he didn't get a lot of snaps and his season was cut short, but he looked to be on track for a decent year and next year will hopefully be his breakout year. MDPD- Kirkpatrick- I am not sure how much is just the officials targeting him, as I see him doing what other CBs in the league do (Sherman, Revis, Haden) or his propensity for making a critical error at the most inopportune time. Denver's FG to close the half, was due to blown coverage and he looked to be the one out of position. He has flashed and all isn't lost, but he is the weakest link on D IMHO. TGA - Burfict - coming back, and playing through. Hall is an honorable mention as well as Jones. GGA- Really so many to choose from - Dunlap - I am sure some QBs will disagree with me, but he has done a lot for the team and the community. GOTY- Seattle - a game that we normally lose and Dalton rallies us back from way down to winning in OT one of my favorites. BPOY- Dalton to Tate. Great throw by Dalton and great individual effort by Tate. Awesome BDay present for Tate. POY - This is tough. Dalton's performance against the Ravens, Seahawks and Chiefs were great, his play against the Steelers (in Pitt) wasn't terrible and he didn't do too bad in Oakland. Green's Ravens game was off the charts and I would love to see him go off again this year, and Eifert also has had some good games, 105 yrds 2 TDs in Oakland, 2 TD grabs against Seattle and 3 TD grabs against the Browns. Can't count out A. Jones against Seattle, Nelson against Pittsburgh or Atkins in almost every game. Dunlap too. For 1 game, Green on Offense, for Defense Nelson. For whole year, Eifert and Atkins - Offense and defense respectfully.
