Oh we get apologies alright, but it is usually a letter in memo format stating that the league is sorry for missing this penalty or incorrectly calling that penalty. However, only the commissioner can alter the outcome of a game (change it), but he has to find clear evidence that there was tampering going on and those investigations take time. So if the league does investigate and they find out that someone had a lot riding on a certain outcome and they had any control over the assignment of the officials for the game, then it is conceivable that they picked these particular officials knowing that they will botch up the game, thus increasing the likelihood of getting the outcome they wanted. If it is proven true, then the Commissioner can in fact take the win away from 1 team and give it to the other. However, in the case such as the playoffs, evidence of such tampering would have to be found out right quick in order for the team that should have won to advance. If they investigated our game and were to find out that the Bengals in fact were unfairly targeted, what good would it do to find the needed evidence after the Patriots and Broncos play their games? How does the NFL rectify this? It isn't like they will strip NE and Denver or KC of their wins. If the Steelers win, then you could say that the Bengals take their spot, but how would that be fair to NE if they were to lose to KC or Denver since they may have won against KC? So instead of that nightmare scenario, the league just does what people complain Marvin does... and that is say "We just have to do better and we will continue to prepare and improve." in a letter. Will we be fooled again? - grampahol - 01-12-2016 Some people will say that the calls the refs make are simply judgment calls like calling balls and strikes, but when your star pitcher throws the ball down the middle of the plate every time and the empire says it's a passed ball there's no way to win the game. It's like a judge in court sentencing someone to life in prison for possession of a joint. There's no judgment there, just bias and the NFL is the very definition of bias and inherent unfairness. It's a multi billion dollar industry and its all about ratings and the all mighty dollar bill so getting the bias and money out of it it'll remain a fixed game.. Hmmm..where have we heard that we need to get the money out of the process before? |
