He had the same shoulder injury in college which contributed to him injuring the same shoulder with the Bengals.

I think the coaches need to formally move Josh Shaw above him in the depth chart, but it looks like that isn't going to happen any time soon.  I also recall Leon Hall starting off slowly in the preseason in the past, but I can't help but worry that Dennard will never end up playing up to the level of play that we experienced with Hall.  Is anyone else concerned?

I have been disappointed as well..  But he hasn't played much to make a solid call on him yet..  I would say id play Shaw any time I could over Dennard right now...  Once we got a lead let Dennard work his snaps in there or something..

Its a catch 22 Shaw is playing much better..  but we gotta get Dennard reps (but don't wanna cost us games to do so like pitt* but I think injuries forced him in in that game) as is I don't even know if he will be starting next year (his 4th?)  but I think dennards play this year might seriously effect how the bengals handle Kirkpatrick in the offseason.

*Not saying hes the sole reason we lost that game but man he was the weak link in the backfield that day.

Don't remember that, good catch.  Still in his final three seasons at MSU he played in 37 of 39 games with 3 ints in each of those seasons while recording no less than 30 tackles soph-sr. year.

But I have to admit, dude doesn't quit.

Holding, that is.

Hips weren't that fluid either which is not good for a CB. Being able to turn your hips is crucial in being a good Corner.

But i agree with Weezy here, Dre has been much better this season..

Sure he has a mistake every once in awhile, but he has been solid for the most part.

Dennard just needs to keep playing.  He needs to get his confidence back.  The Miami game was a step in the right direction.   He just needs to get more and more NFL game experience.  His accumulated snaps still puts him at close to rookie status.  I remember seeing Hall stink up the joint his rookie season and thinking he will never contribute, yet at one point years later, I saw him as one of the best in the league.

I would get Dennard in there over Adam Jones any time the Bengals have a significant lead.  Keep Jones fresh and get Dennard snaps against a team that will have to be airing it out.  Dennard is probably more a part of the future plans than Kirkpatrick. I doubt the Bengals will sign him long term.  Dennard, WJIII, and next year's first round pick will be the future with Shaw as the nickel and Jones as the stop-gap.

All great points.

This.  He had a pretty good game against Miami.  Keep playing Shaw in the slot and (as someone already said) have Dennard spell Jones (and Shaw) if we're comfortably ahead.

I think he'll be a good one once he gets his reps
