RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - michaelsean - 07-12-2015 I juat glanced at the score. Dont know if it hurt, but today sure didnt help. He is going to be a free agent whether he is on your team or another. If you want to sign him in free agency, go for it, but do not waste the chance to get prospects. Something I didn't know is that if thet offera contract of a certain amount, I think it was maybe $15 million a year, and he turns it down then they get the first pick after the first round. So you get something if you don't get an offer you like. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - grampahol - 07-14-2015 It would be something if Cueto decided he wanted to remain in Cincinnati for the rest of his career, but I just don't see it happening. Some guys do, some don't and fewer and fewer do these days. I'd love to see it,but I'm not holding my breath on it. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - samhain - 07-15-2015 It would likely leave some Reds fans a little red-assed, but the pay flex option needs to be considered when dealing Cueto. If you can get a team to take on the Phillips contract as a condition of the Cueto deal, that could also help this team quite a bit. I love Brandon, but his deal will look worse and worse as he gets older. I'm as excited about anyone about adding prospects, but gaining payroll flexibility is a massive deal for the Reds. Not being able to spend money has hurt them badly in the past few years. They've been able to do nothing in FA in the last few years beyond some scrap heap ex-Cards and a few reclamation bullpen guys. To boot, I have to think that the organization is going to have a tough time letting Frazier end his career elsewhere. he has the talent and the personality to be the face of this team for a long time. He's like Votto without the introverted personality, and he's better than Joey on the field right now, too. I don't think they have a chance to give him what he'll demand without dumping some contracts. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - Yojimbo - 07-15-2015 Still haven't seen a report of Houston scouting Cueto at his starts, but a Houston beat writer is saying his internal source is telling him Cueto is Houston's top trade target. Probably can't get Springer or Correa from them, but maybe some combo of: Velasquez RHP Feliz RHP Santana OF Kemp 2B RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - fredtoast - 07-15-2015 I think it was tim kurkjain who said that every single one of his sources predict Cueto will end up with the Dodgers. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - McC - 07-24-2015 Has anybody made a trade yet? They gave up a couple of prospects, but I don't know how highly they were rated. Kazmir was also in the last season of his contract, he is having a good season, but he is not considered as good as Cueto. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - Goalpost - 07-24-2015 I hope the Reds haven't waited too long to deal Cueto. It seems currently there are a lot of starting pitchers available out there....not as good as Cueto.. but still. Cueto might have been worth more a month ago. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - McC - 07-25-2015 Seems like Bruce picked a really good time to get hot. His name is starting to be mentioned. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - Yojimbo - 07-26-2015 Cueto nearly traded to Royals before last night's game. One of the Royals failed their physical. It would be nice to get one of their top lefties, Manaea or Finnegan and maybe an OF like Starling or O'Hearn. http://m.reds.mlb.com/news/article/138781766 RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - EatonFan - 07-26-2015 (07-26-2015, 05:13 AM)Yojimbo Wrote: Cueto nearly traded to Royals before last night's game. Will be sorry to see him go. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - michaelsean - 07-26-2015 It would be cool to rent outJohnny, get some prospects, then re-sign him. Not gonna happen, but that would be badass. RE: Cueto #1 trade target in MLB - McC - 07-28-2015 So, now we're headed into a new era for the Reds. You put a group together, you see how far they go, then you put together a new group. You don't change everyone but you do change the overall makeup of the team. Hopefully, this time around, when it does come time for young guys to get big deals, those players will live up to more of the deal than the last group has. Ad how ironic would it be if Jay Bruce finally harvested his enormous talent and finally found consistency right before he was traded? No player in the national league hit more home runs or drove in more runs than Bruce over the three year period from 2011 to 2013. In both '12 and '13 he finished 3rd in HR and won a Silver Slugger Award. In '13 he finished 2nd in RBI. The lack of respect he gets from Reds fans is ridiculous. |
