A lot of his issues are just a lack of years on the field. Wasn't he a decathlete who had only played football for a relatively short time? Getting to understand all of the subtle nuances involved with adjusting routes according to what a defense is doing is tough enough for gifted athletes who have been playing football their entire lives, let alone for a guy who's still relatively new to the game.
Perhaps it's because of that Princeton brain that he's been able catch on as well as he has? In my lifetime I've seen a few Olympic sprinters fail to convert to WR in the NFL. Yoshi might never be great, but I admire him for giving it his best shot.

As TLL here shows, he has been playing football almost his entire life, so that probably isn't the reason for his struggles in running the
right routes last season.

True, but I wasn't saying Yoshi was the answer if Tee leaves either. I said he would have to grow a ton to even become a good WR3.

Iosivas mentioned last off-season while he's played football he's never had any professional technical coaching until his rookie year/sophomore off-season. Compared him to a 4 star (I think) guy like Jermaine Burton who had been attending camps with guys Housh since his Freshman year in college.

But the free up cap space for THIS year, which is what they need in order to give Purdy the contract that he needs. However, you make a good point about the cost of void years when things don't go as planned. For every person saying the Bengals should venture into the void year territory, there are plenty of examples for the management to point to as reasons they don't want to.

Guys on NFL radio acting like SF saves money to sign Purdy, but what you're showing says otherwise. I'm now thinking that what you said earlier about getting rid of the personality might have even more truth to it. Seems pointless to move him now, from a financial perspective.

Lightning typically doesn’t strike twice and it’s hard to overhaul a team with FA. This is a draft/develop problem. The overwhelming majority of first day two picks have been on the defensive side of the ball since 2021, and even 2020.
9/13 picks since 2021 on defense.
10/16 picks since 2020 on defense.
Until that gets better, you keep your best players regardless of position.
I’m hoping Al golden can get a lot more from the “high end” prospects over the last 4-5 years.

All the more reason to keep Higgins.
One out would be if Davante Adams is released and the bengals want to sign him to a 2 year deal (I would assume with his age the contract would be more palatable, but I could be wrong) and flip Higgins for some assets.
