Tonight's game will kinda feel like this I can only assume.

Our problem is our coaches, not our players.

We need to start putting some value in the Center position and draft one early.

Pure speculation on your part.

Gio is the 10th highest paid rb in the nfl. He isn’t even a top 40 backfield option

He’s prone to be cut. Same with lafell, mj, pac man

Can free up 25 million pretty quick on a few non producers

I wasn't speculating on anything, it is just my opinion that Gio is talented.

You don't feel the same, fine.

He won't get cut either.

They should cut those other guys you mention though i agree with that.

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - ShowMeUrTDs - 12-04-2017

Paul Guenther gave an interview this week, they played on 700WLW, where he said this is just another game like every other and they prepare the same. Just more evidence of Marvin’s losing culture embedded in the staff and team.

No Paul, No Marvin, this is not just another game! This is a primetime game against the division leader that has absolutely dominated your sorry asses the last 15 years!!! Thats right back when Michael Jackson, and Saddam Hussein were still alive, Apple introduced iTunes, and gas was $1.83/gallon. You have beat these fools just twice at home, in 16 tries! Hell you should luck into more wins than that!

So how do I feel? Apathetic, I don’t give a damn until Marvin, and all the losing staff, that implement his culture of losing, are all the hell gone!!

So they may win, but history shows they have about a 12.5% chance of that! Even if they do, who freaking cares until the Master of malingering, the Professor of Primetime putridity, the playoff whisperer, Marvin “Giggles (when he should stfu)” Screwus has been escorted head first off the premises of PBS!!!

I agree.  It's hard to imagine teams like the Patriots or Steelers even considering their draft pick number.  If you're not playing to win, what's the point?  It just installs a losing culture that brings out the worst in everybody.  The Browns are perpetually stuck in this mode.

I think Ben leaves on a stretcher tonight and we turn the corner and go on a run with a big win over the Steelers.  Now is the time.

If not now, then when?

Go Bengals!

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - reuben.ahmed - 12-04-2017

I can't see anything other than us getting destroyed tonight. What have we seen that would cause us to say yes, Marvin lewis' Bengals can win a Monday NIGHT game - against the Steelers? I hope I'm wrong but I sense a wasted 3 hours and late bed time for nothing lol. I hope someone shows us something. Someone being Mixon, AJ, or Burfict. I need to see some actual hits from Burfict this year, he's laid off in fear.

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - McC - 12-04-2017

Lots of people predicting a blowout but that's not what usually happens. Most games against the Steelers are close until the fourth quarter. Must just be frustration talking because it ain't history talking.

I know it isn't best to WANT your team to lose, but I really did. Because now I fear Lewis is signed again, we get a pick around 12-16 range, and now we are talking playoffs again. I'm excited for some of the young talent we have, but I'm a bit tired of such mediocrity.

So how do you feel? I still do enjoy seeing this team do good obviously, and I watch them every single week. But I wonder if we should've blown it up to make room for the possibility of better things in the future.

I think I've also changed my mind on Dalton. I was 50/50 on him before, and probably a bit more negative. But I think he's good enough to keep around and try to build some talent, and see what he can do if we get enough talent around him. I would rather have a world-beater at QB (Wentz, Wilson, Watson, etc), but they aren't easy to find.

First off, great thread idea.

I feel you on the mediocrity, but I can't help but feel better after wins. Even when I know it's not leading to anything substantial. Losing draft position doesn't bother me much. The Patriots draft around 32 every year and seem to do fine. Yeah I know, they have Brady, but they didn't find HIM in the 1st round, either. The teams that win consistently are run very professionally and just plan better than others.

Our problem lies with skimping on guaranteed money with contracts. In exchange, they remain loyal to players whose contributions aren't living up to their cap figure. In a league with a cap and finite money to spend, that is a crippling philosophy to have. It means we keep dead weight instead of cutting it and making improvements via free agency.

This is our problem. Not where we draft. Of course, loyalty to failing coaches is also a problem, but I won't beat on that dead horse.

As for Dalton, if by some miracle we do hire a good coach and let him fill out his ENTIRE staff, I'd be just fine with him selecting a new QB if he so chooses. I like Dalton, but I'm all about Head Coaches having the freedom to shape the roster and staff how they see fit... to shape his vision...especially when our Front Office is freaking clueless and has no vision themselves. Other than making $$$.

That said, some of these world beaters you list (Wentz and Watson) could easily come down to Earth after a bit. Just as Preskott, Carr and Mariota have. Just as Kaepernick and Foles did, to a more extreme degree. Dalton has proven consistent. Even with the offense falling apart around him, he's still posting good numbers. This is his most impressive season in my book. Others come, look great and fall back down. Dalton just stays consistently "good". There's value in that.

But like I said, if the new coach wants to roll the dice, I'd be on board.

Burfict is tossed before halftime. We keep it somewhat within reach until midway through the 4th then end up getting beat by 14. I'm just pissed I told buddies I would watch at the bar with all of them after reading this thread.

Well, if you're stuck in a bar with friends, you could always just look at the other TVs.  One of them might be showing Holiday on Ice, or something..

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - bengalfan74 - 12-04-2017

First off yes I'm completely fed up with Mike Brown's GMmanship and the mediocre culture he's created.

Blowing it up in my opinion isn't the answer, we still have a decent core to build on MB has just refused to spend the $$$$. And like Shake said this jacked up contract honoring is way beyond stupid. If you buy a brand new car and it blows up on the way home are you just gonna say oh well, we bought it so we have to keep it and just keep paying for a car that doesn't work.

Finally, I, in no way believe a different QB is going to solve anything with this dysfunctional, no accountability franchise. The problems are much deeper !

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - Nately120 - 12-04-2017

Isn't this a no-win scenario? If we lose then we get to watch the Steelers knock us out of contention and boost themselves closer to another SB via keeping up with the Patriots' seed. If we win then I'd bet my left nut Marvin Lewis is around for at least another year.

Heck, that might be the rare scenario where I'd gamble my right nut.

Guess you could say I'm at peace with this game.  I wholly anticipate a loss, so if (when) it occurs, I'll just go about my business and enjoy all of the "If we win our final four we'll still be 9-7" threads popping up tomorrow.  After what we've lived through this season and last, I'm kinda numb to the losses at this point.

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - reuben.ahmed - 12-04-2017

Yeah, that's the scary part, we're going to go 7-9 or 8-8. We've reached that depth of fandom, hoping for our favorite team to lose.

RE: How do you guys feel right now, honestly? - Steve - 12-04-2017

if this team had a solid O-line we'd be in great shape...
they drafted Ced & Fisher high...they should of been able to handle the OT spots but no....it's been bad so far....Bodine has always been poor....
the war room HAS TO FIX THE O-LINE in the off season...
they avoid FA so I have given up any hope there....
if they don't draft an OT ....I wont be happy but I will understand...Ced & Fisher are still under contract...
but the have to replace Bodine...they have to....
I have to get up at 4:30 am for work in the mornings so i'll probably go to bed in the 3rd quarter....I hope I don't go to bed mad....b/c we're down by more that 7 points....

The thing is that if you draft an OT in the 1st Round...the hit rate is maybe 50%. That means you might get a capable tackle...you might not.

What we have to do is sign some free agents. Atleast a Guard. Maybe a Guard and Center.

This. Marvin is 2-14 at home against the Steelers. 2-15 is the realistic outcome.

Except the Bengals rarely cut players. It runs contrary to Mike and Katie’s “we low ball the total contract value but promise we will pay all of it” strategy. At least 3 of the 4 will play out the life of their contracts. It’s the Brown way.
