Yep and, first off, it's silly for that poster to even try to compare the real world to that of sports........While a gallant effort, and rightfully so, it just
can't be compared...

Indeed. And it's not like the Bengals were 3-5 or 4-4 with hope of the playoffs. 0-11 right out of the gate.

Why would ANY player...say he was 85-90% healthy...why would they rush back in that situation? AND the QB was Ryan Finley for 3 of those games who was absolutely terrible.

If you're an NFL GM looking to sign FA's, you definitely aren't going to be looking to sign guys that would just shut it down because the season it lost.  If the team is in a down year, a couple more wins down the stretch may be the difference in whether you have a job next year or not. 

I don't think AJ is shutting it down because the season is lost so much as he's shutting it down because the Bengals as a franchise are lost.  I still doubt his next team is going to hold it against him for putting them/himself/his next team/contract above the latest Mike Brown foray into futility.

It's just speculation, but crappy owners who can't or don't care to fill their stadiums hit all the owners in the wallet so I can't imagine Mike Brown and his habit of kicking back while the rest of the NFL drags him along resonates too well with the other owners.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see other owners getting upset that AJ Green might be hitting that nepotistic leech in the wallet for the sake of being 100% for his next team.

What needs to be said that hasn't already been said?  How many high profile Bengals players have left here on good terms during the Mike Brown era?  AJ would likely have gotten his arse in gear if MB and company could be bothered to put anything but the dead last worst NFL team on the field this year.  What's the point?  Why should he try any harder than the boss man?

Because if he can play, he's getting paid 15 million a year to do it. I don't give a crap what the record is or what the state of the franchise is. Neither of those matter when it comes time for Mike to hand him over his check which he does. 

Unless I'm mistaken and his contract states he only has to play when the Bengals are doing well and he agrees with everything management does.

If that is the case then it is Mike Brown's job to hold him accountable for it.  Unfortunately, Mike Brown has created a business so stale and toxic that cutting or trading people away is a gigantic reward, so through his own sloth and ineptitude he's managed to remove the biggest ace in the hole NFL owners and GMs have to use against petulant players.

You stated in your hypothetical situation that he admitted to teams that he could have played, but chose not to.  While it's a legal grey area in the NFL, such an act would be on the same moral level as Workers Comp fraud.  You're being paid to do a job, you're physically able to perform it, but you're not.

Glenn was cleared by an independent NFL appointed specialist.  That puts the Bengals in the clear on any dispute over whether he can play or not.  Green is one of the faces of the franchise and there's no independent medical opinion on his injury.  That makes calling him our very dicey. 

I've had a grade 3 sprain and was told by the doctor that I would have been better off breaking it. I was fine in a month, but I followed my doctor's and my physical therapist's directions to a t. Now, everyone heals differently.  However, if I hypothetically wanted to milk that injury, I could have not iced it like I was supposed to, and not taken my anti inflammatories like I was supposed to and the swelling would have been a lot worse.

If AJ is milking it; I hope he feels like a little punk when kids like Tate are out there playing for their careers, getting blown up, and returning the next week while he sport the latest Bengal hoody each week on the sidelines. If he's truly injured I hope for a completely health return.

True.

I just take a lot of issue with someone not playing if they're capable of it. As I said before no matter what your opinion on the franchise etc. While the Brown family stinks in general, they have treated Green well in terms of pay etc. Whats also baffling is players/fans expecting teams to open with ridiculously high offers on contracts. Its a negotiation at the end of the day. You don't offer the car dealer asking price of the car straight off, he goes high, you go low and then work a deal from there.

When we changed 21 coaches and knew we was going to have growing pains we should of traded him that was in the off season before any player had stepped onto the field. Most of us knew we was in a rebuilding stage even tho some would not admit it. I posted about trading all our big names before he was injured.

In all fairness, AJ has played about 100 more games for the Mike Brown-era Bengals than Auden Tate has, so Tate has plenty of time to sick of this place.

Pollack was still under contract. They could have kept him IF they wanted. They let him out of his contract so that they could hire Turner.

What does he have to "force" when his contract is up anyway?

What was the lowball offer, and what will he get in free agency if he does not play this year?

Cone drills are a very commmon form of rehab for players that are not ready to play in games.

Anyone who thinks "cone drills = playing in an NFL game" does not understand football.
