I am a real fan.

And I just watched Joe Burrow torch a team and almost make an insane comeback, again.

Yes it's depressing.

But its also insane to think we can't beat Russell Wilson twice, Cooper Rush, Will Levis, Anthony Richardson, Jameis Winston, and Bo Nix.

Fig Newton looked like a DOG.

Jenkins looked like a beast.

The defense was making some stops.... and we are about to now have Tee fully loaded and ready to go after a big performance, our best offensive lineman back, Charlie Jones back, Rankins, etc.

How can we not have optimism?

Look at our offense and these remaining teams we are playing,. We got this.

It is not as simple as our QB against their QB, or our record would be a lot better this year.

A better gauge would be our coach against their coaches.

If only it were that simple. We'd be a Super Bowl contender for a long time.

Yes, unfortunately we have to play, be out there, on defense.

Unfortunately, the Brown family has to own the team, Duke has to draft, coaches have to do more than give a nice pre and post game talk to the fellows, and players have to execute.  Hilarious

We win out, we are in...bottom line.  The Playoffs start for the Bengals Dec 1st vs. Pittsburgh. 6 game playoff season, lose you are eliminated, win advance.

Colts lose to Lions this week.

Colts lose @ Denver week 12.

Colts Done after that.

If by the second game they've won the division and secured their seeding, we might, might get lucky and they may take the last game off and throw us a bone.  But that's the only way we avoid a sweep.  If they need that game, forget it.

Crunching the numbers over here fellas, and I am 99% sure I am correct here…. So if we win out, which includes dubs over the Broncos and Colts… and the Colts beat the Broncos…and all the three teams win out outside of those games against each other..... we all end up 10-7. ? And in a three team tie breaker... in that scenario, we win the tie breaker.

So with that, if every team is 10-6 going into the last game of the season, it comes down to the following.

(1) Broncos vs. Chiefs

(2) Colts vs. Jaguars

(3) Bengals vs. Steelers

In this scenario... if all the teams win and are 10-7... the Bengals win the tie breaker, because the first tie breaker, is head to head records vs. the tied opponents. See list and link below.

PS - The Dolphins schedule looks super hard as well to note, so mark them out. Pats, Packers (in Lambeau), Jets, 49ers, Texans, etc.

So does our entire season come down to hypothetically.. us needing Anthony Richardson (or Flacco... revenge game?), to beat the Broncos in Denver on 12/15?

Conference Tie Breakers: (https://www.nfl.com/standings/tie-breaking-procedures)

Tiebreaker Procedure for Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after one or more clubs are eliminated in any step, the tiebreaker process restarts at Step 1 of the two-club format. If three clubs remain tied after a fourth club is eliminated, the tiebreaker process restarts at Step 1 of the three-club format.)

(1) Head-to-head record (best won-lost-tied percentage in games played among the tied clubs).
(2) Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
(3) Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
(4) Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
(5) Strength of victory in all games.
(6) Strength of schedule in all games.
(7) Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
(8) Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
(9) Best net points in common games.
(10) Best net points in all games.
(11) Best net touchdowns in all games.
(12) Coin toss (if all other tiebreakers fail).

I like you MC Howley and I love the optimism myself. No point in being negative all the time and even calling for posts like yours to be banned
is honestly embarrassing for a so called Bengals fan. It is true these people are always the first to give up, but I do think they are right this time
around and the Playoffs are a pipe dream unless the Defense makes a magical turn around. They played pretty well in that 2nd half against the
Chargers so there is always a chance.

Those QB's you listed aren't very scary and we have the scariest of the bunch in Joe Burrow. We will see.

Just stay positive. Mindset is a choice. Choose wisely.

Why would anyone want to walk around like they have a dark cloud over there head all the time? Some folks need to look around because your dark cloud is no longer hanging above you but it's encompassed your whole body and it's showing with every post they make. This season hasn't turned out as we'd hoped but we'll mostly all still watch every game, so why talk negatively about something you're looking forward to watching? I'm frustrated too, but why self inflict more negativity within yourself? Are we going to win out? The odds say, "no", but it still could happen. That's what makes sports fun to watch.

I'm right there with you Howley. Go Bengals! Who Dey!!

Sadly, Frank, you're the one that comes to mind the most with my previous post. Your posts really make me feel bad for you. Your life must suck with as much negativity that comes out of you. I really hope things change for you. ( No sarcasm )

I'm a pretty casual fan in that I don't get upset or worked up when things go bad.  I enjoy just watching the games no matter what.  That said, I feel like since around the time the Bengals got embarrassed by the Eagles a few weeks ago people have been saying, "Well if the Bengals can just do this for the rest of the season."   At this point I don't see the Bengals doing that.

Burrow and Chase are out there doing amazing things behind yet another questionable O-line, yes I understand there have been injuries there.  The kicker has the yips and the defense just sucks outside of Hendrickson.  So I don't really feel like there is much hope in the team pulling off any kind of magic. Even if they do sneak into a playoff spot somehow with the terrible defense I think it would only end up with a worse spot in the draft and nothing else to show for it.  I'd love to be wrong but I just don't see it.

Here is an image of the Bengals success so far going into the bye week at 4-7:

RE: Bengals Win Out + Colts Beat the Broncos... We are all potentially 10-7, AND WE IN? - THE PISTONS - 11-19-2024

Why They Lost:

Los Angeles Chargers 34, Cincinnati Bengals 27
Why the Chargers won: Justin Herbert has been on a tear this season, and his ability to hit on deep balls is uncanny. Herbert earned a 93.9 grade on passes of 20 yards or more, completing 5-of-9 attempts for 134 yards and two touchdowns while accumulating four big-time throws. Only a few quarterbacks have an arm like Herbert.

Why the Bengals lost: The Bengals’ offensive line was porous against the Chargers, allowing 27 total pressures and six quarterback hits, with Joe Burrow also getting sacked three times. Burrow performed well under pressure, recording an 86.6 overall grade under duress, but he shouldn’t have to work in those conditions.

We allowed 27 pressures vs the Chargers. Wonder how many the Steelers will have?

Dude, like you, I'm one of the few optimistic posters around here. While I'm hopeful we can make a run and I definitely see it as a possibility - more so than most - the Steelers are the team that concerns me th emost and we play them twice.

Good thing they're right after the bye. If we beat them after the bye, then you best believe I'm on the "we're winning out" train. A loss, though and even I will give up on this team for the rest of the season.
