Huge reach because of need. hes far from trash..he's a rookie and one with great potential..when the defensive line lacks robustness in the middle the entire line looks bad RE: Dallas PFF Scores - ochocincos - 12-11-2024 (12-10-2024, 03:40 PM)Joelist Wrote: The Geno Stone score jump was interesting also as they changed how they were using him. Lou let him attack a lot more and not sit back so much; could be that is how he plays best. If the Ravens film is any indication, that is 100% how he plays best. RE: Dallas PFF Scores - ochocincos - 12-11-2024 (12-11-2024, 10:54 AM)Whatever Wrote: Well, they decided not to resign or replace Reader, then drafted for need in a bad NT class. Like you said, NT has a long development curve. Jackson was never going to come in and fill that immediate need, so reaching for him was pretty bad. We obviously needed help all over. Rankins was supposed to be the Reader coverage, remember? All joking aside, the Bengals likely were not planning for Jackson to play much at all this season. It was going to be Hill and Rankins as the starters with Jenkins and Tufele getting into the rotation. Carter as well until they decided to cut him for such poor performance into his 3rd season. It also did not help that Jackson missed pretty much all of TC and preseason due to an injury and didn't get cleared to practice until beginning of Oct and didn't play until Oct 6 vs Ravens. He's behind the curve on growth, plus he's a 3rd round comp pick. Some people have way too unrealistic expectations for these mid-round picks to contribute so much so early. The real crime was the Bengals thinking A) Rankins was a sufficient replacement for Reader, and B) having to rely so much on inexperienced/unproven depth. Low bar, but a fact. Which is pretty surprising to me as I thought of him as more of a 1 trick pony run stopping Nose Tackle. But McKinnley Jackson has some athleticism and twitch I didn't expect. He is far from trash and even DJ Reader was bad as a rookie. People can hate on taking a NT that early in the Draft, but where we took him was exactly where I thought McKinnley would go, in the 3rd. Still believe whoever took T'Vondre Sweat was the team that reached for a NT in that draft. He is a lazy POS with off field problems. Thought he would of went the opposite way with his athleticism. Instead, he got beat like a drum all year long. I initially wanted a TE in that draft instead of another Corner but since we picked him DJ Ivey has been a good player when healthy. He could and should improve, but "great potential" is a big stretch. When he's in the game, he's literally half of the interior defensive line. He's a big part of that "lack of robustness". Jackson has a 35.3 PFF grade for the year, which has to be one of, if not the worst, on a bad team. He is miles from solid. Jenkins is solid. Jackson sucks. I just hope they don't pass on a top NT prospect in next year's strong DT class because they reached for Jackson. I hope he develops into a good player, but he's shown nothing to give any hope of that. He didn't tackle him, but he got to him just after he was tackled 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. In other words, Jackson was hustling his ass off trying to get the speedy receiver. It showed to me that he may have the right internal drive. That was not the case with Sweat and many physical specimens who never seemed to have the work ethic or passion. That's my hope, at least. If he has the work ethic and passion for football, he has the physical attributes.
