If it turns out he's just yanking people's chains, then he should absolutely be responsible for his actions, but people don't know the real story with him and in terms of behaviour, I think people should consider the possibility before reaching for hate and prejudice. Just not in the NFL. I know professionals that supported NE players during the Belichick Patriots days. They helped players with learning disabilities and executive functioning challenges better understand the playbook. Fair enough....if that's indeed the case, you have a point. I'm going off what Saban had to say about him, and what he's shown. Hopefully Zac can get him up to snuff. I'm admittedly harsh because I can't stand a no call, no show. Did they remind them to attend mandatory walkthroughs, orndidbthey expect them to be actual functioning adults? Yep Like I said in another post I have a granddaughter with cerebral palsy and it has made a giant change in the judgmental part of me, to say the least. I like you don't pretend to have any insight into the Burton story. Perhaps there is something that can be done to help him? But, there's also a chance that the NFL is just not his gig with whatever problem he has? If there is truly one? At any rate I'm pulling for him. But to be honest my hopes aren't very high. I only know they focused heavily on strategies for helping players with ADHD and/or a SLD learn the playbook. The professionals weren't full-time NE Pat employees. RE: Pull The Curtain on Burton - WeezyBengal - 12-16-2024 Never seen a third round pick get as much shit as Burton. Do you realize the last third round picks we've recently had? Jordan Battle, Zach Carter, and Joseph Ossai. Those guys are in years 2, 3, and 4, they aren't good, and they don't get nearly as much shit as an actual rookie like Burton gets. He's a rookie. He's learning. He's adjusting. If you expected him to come in here, get snaps, and set the world on fire...well, then that's on you and your weird expectations. I got nothing against Burton..but there is something amiss with the fellow ..it may well be ADHD...but man we sure could use some ancillary receivers RE: Pull The Curtain on Burton - NotBigzo - 12-16-2024 (12-16-2024, 11:15 AM)WeezyBengal Wrote: Never seen a third round pick get as much shit as Burton. None of those picks fell asleep in meetings or no call no showed to walkthroughs. No one expected him to light the league on fire (though many said he had the potential to do so), but it's not too far off to expect at least the bare minimum. RE: Pull The Curtain on Burton - SunsetBengal - 12-16-2024 Until we know what the real deal going on with Burton, I'm just gonna think of him as "Can't Get Right", like the character in the movie Life. A whole bunch of posters thought that like almost everybody but myself and a few others. They said just line him up wide on a go pattern and throw the ball deep like that's all there is to playing the position. RE: Pull The Curtain on Burton - ochocincos - 12-16-2024 I think it's a bit harsh to: A) Assume just because someone isn't overly social with the team members that they may have a learning disability or be on the spectrum. They may just be introverted. And/or... B) Assume someone isn't succeeding because they may be on the spectrum. There are many instances where someone on the spectrum is incredibly intelligent and talented. My personal view is Burton just doesn't seem to understand the need or care to put in the level of dedication and responsibility to do these little things that many in the NFL seem to do. He more comes off as, "Why is it a big deal if I'm late or miss X, don't do Y, etc?" He seems to want to be given playing time and just go out and ball, but that usually doesn't sit well with most NFL coaches. At the end of the day, Burton got 3 offensive snaps against the Titans and has only 120 on the year with just 4 receptions, no more than 1 reception in any game. He's going to have to find a way to put in work this offseason (albeit it physical or mental) if he means to impress Burrow and the staff to get more playing time and make a name for himself in Year 2. You've clearly got a pretty strong leaning towards already believing it's true because you're treating others like it is. I see a couple differences: 1) Those guys were all professional and gave good effort. The results were not always great,,but they were trying. They weren't getting suspended for games for missing meetings & walkthroughs. 2) Those guys weren't hyped as "first round talents." 3) Those guys were not picked to potentially replace a star player. At least showed some flash. 2. Was devastated when he made an understandable heat of the moment mistake in the AFC title game. To someone like Burton, someone who can't be bothered to show up to a walkthrough. Is crazy work. Maturity and professionalism is what is needed to see. I have it wonder how far Burton would have dropped in Draft had Tobin not pulled a "Tobin" and picked him too high? Im quite certain the teams with legit scouting teams had him pegged as a late round chance pick or a FA RE: Pull The Curtain on Burton - Go Cards - 12-17-2024 It may be the case of being just too immature to handle becoming rich overnight as opposed to a learning disability which should have been diagnosed in college already. Think it is worth giving him another year to see how he progresses in the offseason and how serious he takes it after having a failed year already under his belt. Personally like to see how people respond to adversity before making my final judgement, but up until now he has been a failure in his rookie season and things will have to change moving forward.
