The problem is, the guys they replaced him with are way below average. And when Bates played great...these guys don't have that gear.
He was the best player on the team during the SB run, and that includes Burrow and Chase. He didn’t get himself paid what he did by being mostly average.

He was for those 4 games... but he bracketed those 4 games with 15 games of being average in the 2021 regular season and 16 games of being average in the 2022 regular season.
He was our Nick Foles/Joe Flacco.

Don't let his interception off a ball that was tipped directly to him change your opinion on issues he's been having the entire season.

Great his junior year.
So that's 3 averages, 1 terrible, and 1 great... plus 1 otherworldly postseason and 1 mediocre postseason.
That's terribly inconsistent.

He definately stepped it up in the playoffs.
The Falcons have figured out a way to harness that.

There's a reason we earned that 1st overall pick and having the 32nd pass defense was a good part of it.

There's a reason we earned that 1st overall pick and having the 32nd pass defense was a good part of it.
2019 end of his career Mike Daniels might have been the best Defensive Lineman that year. Ok Sam Hubbard lol but still it was bad. They were also the worst rush defense in the NFL that year too with the Ravens setting some kinda rushing record against them.

Bottom line, I'm open to looking at improvement at all areas on defense come draft time.
Same here, the defense needs vast improvement and the only real play maker is Trey H. I like Pratt but we need to bring in some fresh folks and let the best play.

Pratt is solid and he is dependable. Of Course, he can be upgraded, but every player with the last name Burrow, Chase, or Hendrickson, can be.

Don't hate or love Pratt and think there are bigger issues if they choose to retain him, but a fine moving on as well. Don't think he makes or breaks the defense and if an upgrade can be had then it would be foolish not to entertain the opportunity. If not a clear upgrade can be had then am fine rolling with him again but would not want to give him any long term commitment at all.
To me he showed bad character after the KC playoff loss and I found it odd he was named a Captain because of that tirade. Plus him not really being a leader on the field either, just never got that but the defense has been horrid all season so it was slim pickings for Captain I reckon.
For what its worth I was a big Wilson fan but he seems to be the next Tyler Eifert.
Guess I am just on the fence with Pratt but his lack of character makes me lean against him.

Logan: 68/possible 84 games played or 80.9% of his games, he's suited up.
Eifert: 39/possible 84 games played or 46.4% of those games, he suited up.
Logan is almost double the amount of games played than Eifert, in the same amount of time.
We all knew Eifert was bad, but that's REALLY bad ugh

He’s not a good leader. He talks a lot but is fundamentally a poor player. He’s slow and often doesn’t react to a run until it’s past him. Yea he has made plays, but his overall play is subpar.

He was ranked 102 in missed tackles last year with 8 and a 6.3 missed tackle percentage. So according to PFR stats he has more than doubled his missed tackles this season.
Missed tackles is a counting stat. Compare his missed tackle rank to his snaps played rank and you get a better idea. And since we played early this week, our numbers are in but the Sunday/MNF games are not.
He's played a ton of snaps (1,020). Before the Sunday games are processed, Pratt was 3rd in snaps via PFF among 183 rated LBs. He was 3rd in tackles. He was 176th/183 in missed tackles.
He is in line with his snaps. He is just a smidge below median amongst LBs. Rated as a good run stopper but below average in coverage.
He is not a 3 down player anymore, if he ever was. But we kind of have a problem. With Wilson out, yanking Pratt means a 3rd safety (Bell) who got benched this year or playing Ngomgmeya or Heyward (Bachie is also out). Anderson has zero D snaps and I don't think Anthony has had any since the Chiefs game. An extra CB makes sense, but we are down Hill & Turner already, and pass D is not Hilton's strength. Despite this, Ivey & Wilson seem to be getting a handful of snaps per game.
Overall, after this year, I'd rate DT, DE, S as more pressing needs than LB. IOL as well. TE1, too.
That said, if Campbell is sitting there Rd2, probably bite if we successfully hit the trenches hard in FA.
Other than QB1, WR1, DE1, RB1, LT, & RT and maybe C, I think we couod use upgrades or reinforcements everywhere. There is no way we can get to all of it. We are gonna have to live with a couple warts next year.
