Those players are Rankins, Cappa, Stone and even maybe Hubbard. I don't disagree with waiting to cut any of them until we see who we sign in FA. I do believe if we sign a replacement for them, to free up cap dollars we can cut them prior to the draft. Who knows, maybe one of them has trade value? Pratt for sure. If we do wait to cut them until after the draft, it makes it harder for them to find a job in 2025. Bengals normally act professionally, so I think any cuts they make, they annoiunce during FA period and before. the draft. But Moss may make more sense to cut after the draft. I could see us drafting a RB in round 3 if Judkins or Henderson is available. Even the RB from Iowa Johnson or who knows Hampton may slide down as well. RE: “Kick the Tires” on Proven Performers - J24 - 02-19-2025 (02-19-2025, 03:32 PM)ochocincos Wrote: You know that for sure? Herbert is just a better runner than Moss and we saw it in the last game against the stealers. Makes sense to wait till we got a decent talent in the Draft before cutting Moss. I also like Johnson, Judkins, Henderson, Hampton or my guy Skattebo. RE: “Kick the Tires” on Proven Performers - ochocincos - 02-19-2025 (02-19-2025, 03:35 PM)J24 Wrote: Its common sense Ocho! You'd think that, but we've seen the Bengals not do things (or do things) that wasn't what we all thought would have made sense. Or you speculating? -They released Nick Scott and traded Joe Mixon on March 13th last year. -In 2022 they released Trey Hopkins on March 18th, Trae Waynes on March 21st, and Fred Johnson on March 22nd. -In 2021 they released Geno Atkins and Bobby Hart on March 19th and Giovani Bernard on April 7th. -In 2020 they released Cordy Glenn on March 13th, John Miller and BW Webb on March 18th, and Dre Kirkpatrick on March 31st.... of course then they waited to release Andy Dalton until after the draft April 30th because they already benched him on his Birthday the year before, so what's another kick while he's down? -In 2019 they released Vontaze Burfict on March 18th. All those people in the Taylor era (besides Dalton, because F him apparently) were released well before the draft. It's generally considered "good form" to release players early enough that they have a chance at signing with other teams while everyone still has cap space left before they spend most of it in FA. My point though is there have been no reports from reporters of the Bengals planning to release anyone. Until we hear from someone actually closer to the Bengals, it's all speculation at this point. However, there is another part of the equation that must ask, are the people making the decisions on the draft selections even truly following the recommendations of the scouts and coaching staff? How often do Duke and Mike just go rogue because they've got "a good feeling" about some player? It's really impossible to know the absolute truth, as the Bengals are so secretive about every littlest thing they do. Yeah, we occasionally hear a little tidbit about what actually transpired in the war room, several years down the line.
