A guard who can play LT in a pinch? Yes please. Imagine the offense tbh is year if we had Donovan Jackson there instead of our backup LT. but that being said I feel confident you can get him in a trade down. Rd 2 looks like the meat of this draft. We're not drafting Jackson we never even met with the guy. They'll likely be attending the OSU Pro Day, it's not like it's all that far away. He seems to me to be the exact sort of OL that the Bengals would be interested in. He's a team player and just wants to play wherever he's needed to help the team. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/how-donovan-jacksons-move-to-left-tackle-for-ohio-state-impacted-his-nfl-draft-stock/ar-AA1A3qUJ?ocid=BingNewsSerp Quote:INDIANAPOLIS — Donovan Jackson offered a simple reason for accepting a move to left tackle last fall. Like I told someone else I don't just go by 1 website I look at several and most have him as a 3rd rounder. He's the 18th best rated prospect by NFL.com, and you're saying he's a 3rd round pick at best? Dude, you're going to lose a lot of draft credibility if you keep following those bullshit sites. The NFL site is pretty much the gospel. Mike Renner whose on NFL.com all the time said he's a third rounder..... RE: Guard in the first round? - SunsetBengal - 03-02-2025 I did a check of several big boards this morning to get a better feel for where Donovan Jackson is currently ranked. Draftek-63 Mock Draft Database-35 Daniel Jeremiah-31 CBS Sports-31 USA Today-31 NFL.com-18 PFF-58 Sporting News-37 I think that it's pretty clear that the general opinion is that Jackson is better than a 3rd round prospect. I just spent 45 minutes and typed them all out, but figured it was kind of a waste when i can just say, the lowest i saw him from 10+ sources was PFF @68 overall. Every other one was (couple) mid 1st, many late 1st and early 2nd. (couple) mid 2nd. RE: Guard in the first round? - rfaulk34 - 03-02-2025 My personal preference. I don't want to see another DL in the 1st. Too many picks/misses lately for it to happen again plus we have a few young guys that need to develop or cut bait. I'd be ok with Booker or Jackson in rd1 but my dream scenario would probably be Warren falling in the 1st. Xavier Watts in the 2nd and Tate Ratledge in the 3rd. That in tandem with the Bengals getting a veteran G in FA. Probably a small percentage of that being realistic, but i'd like to see it. RE: Guard in the first round? - rfaulk34 - 03-02-2025 I think they're getting ready to replay Ratledge's group coming up on NFL Network. RE: Guard in the first round? - psychdoctor - 03-03-2025 I think Bengals go Edge first round. Maybe, just maybe Starks if he is there. I'd be shocked if Starks was gone by 17. RE: Guard in the first round? - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 03-04-2025 Membou in the first is possible for sure. RE: Guard in the first round? - XsandOs - 03-04-2025 I look at this as a basic approach. We have cut a DT and RG. So, should the approach for the draft be G and DT? Of course, all this discussion changes if we get a FA G. As we know, Guard talent is sparse in the draft, whereas DT class is deep. So do we go G in the first and DT in the second? Also, keep in mind that if Will Johnson falls to us in the first, I don't see how we pass him up. I would not want Jahdae Barron. Tyler Booker or Membou, if we go G in the first round. If they are gone, then hoping for Jackson, Milum or Zabel in the second. Booker or Membou in the first, one of those DT's in the 2nd and I would like the beginning of the Draft if we don't get a couple starting Guards in FA. Deone Walker should be a thought for us in the 2nd as well if we go Guard in the first and we have met with Walker. |
