Cupp is not as good as he once was but still very good.....Jenkins would be a HUGE upgrade and so would Scherff.... and then I'd throw another 5 million at Ojulari.....plus whatever capital you get for Tee. I can't argue with this.... If I believed it was an alternative. In reality they'd just roll the money over to prepare for Mims extension. They could have him in over the weekend and maybe he never visits Seattle. Bengals' GM, Mike Brown, could not be reached for comment as he likely has already unplugged the rotary phone that he uses to field free agency and trade deadline calls. They've got a few years to worry about a Mims extension and he's still unproven at this point. He's going in the right direction but they don't always stay that way as we know. Pretty sure Ojulari got signed by some other team but could be wrong. Agree on Jenkins and Scherff, Kupp is injured a lot but if he can stay healthy he would be much cheaper than Tee. Damn, two Tee's?? Are they at least going to take turns being injured? ![]() RE: "Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done - Ell Prez - 03-14-2025 (11 hours ago)THE PISTONS Wrote: It's interesting. Could the Bengals really pay $71 million a year for 2 WR's? I don’t understand what the big deal is. It’s not going to be 71M cap hit each year. But let’s say they eat up 15% of the cap. They equate for about 70% of the total offense. RE: "Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done - ochocincos - 03-14-2025 I would love to hear from Taylor/Pitcher on the focus of the offense for 2025. If it's still heavy pass-focused, prioritize getting a guard (or guards) who can pass block well. There are still a few out there who can. If it's trying to be more balanced and bolster the running game, get a guard who can run block (or ideally do both). There are some out there. But don't get someone who can't pass block but turn around and expect to be so pass-heavy. We're just going to end up frustrated again. Same thing if they force to be more balanced and the guy can't run block. Actually got curious when I saw you say this, so... 40.8% of the offensive yards/50.0% of the offensive TDs in 2024 32.3% of the offensive yards/30.8% of the offensive TDs in 2023 - - - - - (This isn't me making a point, this is just me purely sharing stats after I got curious and looked it up.) Could have been 60/year if they wouldn’t have dicked around last offseason. Mike, Katie, and Troy are inept, period. RE: Significant progress has been made to extend both Tee and Ja'Marr - ochocincos - 03-14-2025 My personal gut feel, but I worry that by investing this much into pass catchers, it's going to take away too much from the trenches and the Bengals are going to become like the Miami Dolphins and will end up being stuck as a perennial cusp team or WC team who can't get over the hump. I blame it on old age. They are having a conversation. Tee says sign the deal, other Tee says hold out for more. Conversation has been going on for 3 years. ![]() RE: "Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 03-14-2025 (9 hours ago)pulses Wrote: Ojulari is still a FA but I read the eagles have their eyes on him.......figures Oh, thought he got picked up by somebody. We talked to Ojulari, maybe they thought we only needed one pass rusher and kept Ossai instead because they know Trey will be back. Still, I think we need another pass rusher in case Murphy or Cedric Johnson don't make the jump. I like Cam Sample but Ojulari is currently better than all these guys except Trey. Could happen unless our new trench coaches can coach up our trenches big time. Difference is the QB so they should be better than the Dolphins going forward. The Bengals WRs are also younger and better (Chase>Hill) so I’m not too worried about it. Good thing is if the cap keeps going up (hopefully) these will be pretty good deals in a couple of years. My only worry is them not spending in other areas of need like Guard/Safety/D line. I don’t think these WR deals will prevent them from adding other good players I just don’t know that the FO is creative enough with the contracts to do it. RE: "Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done - Bengalion - 03-14-2025 Trey's going to be the sacrificial lamb. Chase and Tee will be back. |
