Perinne is a long term pro, has never been a starting caliber back. But Moss started for us in 2024 and his stats are much better than Sam. I love Sam, but he is a 3rd down back, I think a good one, but I would be very concerned if Brown went dowb and we obnly had Perrine to carry the load for weeks or the rest of teh season. I see as a 3rd down back, I see moss capable of being a 3 down RB.if needed. Are we just ignoring that Moss ran for 3.3ypc (if qualified, would be 41st out of 42 RBs with 40th being .3ypc better) and a pathetic 1.0 yards after contact (if qualified, would be 42nd out of 42 RBs with 41st being 0.6 yards better)? Moss wasn't just bad, he was EXTRMELY bad last year. There wasn't just a gap, but a gulf between him and anyone even slightly resembling a starting caliber RB. Zack Moss was supposed to be a great pass protector and he wasn't even good at it last season before he went down. so a part of a year, cancels multiple years, if we did that thinking we be cutting people left and right, i rather keep him and invest a pick on a higher need, give me a CB or even a TE over a late round RB RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - Forever Spinning Vinyl - 04-22-2025 I don't think that he'll make it out of camp. I think Mixon showed in Texas he was a very good RB. Yet, if I recall without lookig it up, he has a bad YPC average and rushing TD average when a Bengal. I hope you are wrong, he just got a great guaranteed contract for 2025 when he had a little guarantee prior. RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - XsandOs - 04-23-2025 I feel its important to consider HOW a RB is used - first, second or third down. As a runner, he was brought here to deploy in between tackle first down runs, which for a lack of a better term, are cannon fodder runs to establish a pattern in play calling. He is not Edgerin James or Marshall Faulk, but if with better interior blocking he gets us in 2nd and 6 situations, he will have done his job. He is a veteran with a year of familiarity in our system, who can catch and block I am not arguing against other board members, but just making a point that there is value in having him on the roster this year. Joe Mixon 2023 YPC: 4.0 Joe Mixon 2024 YPC: 4.1 On 309 touches he had 1410 total yards and 12 total TDs at 4.6 yards per touch as a Bengal in 2023. On 281 touches he had 1325 total yards and 12 total TDs at 4.7 yards per touch as a Texan in 2024. He had nearly the exact same touch-for-touch production. Mixon's first 6 or 8 games he was top 3 in stats across the league, then completely and utterly fell off a cliff in the 2nd half (probably the reason the Texans were shitty in the second half) of the season. As TLL wrote above, his year ended up being not much different than a typical year here. He was Juan Samuel 1991. RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - THE PISTONS - 04-23-2025 (04-23-2025, 09:44 AM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: Joe Mixon 2023 YPC: 4.0 Yep. And the year before 3.9 ypc, and the year before that 4.1 ypc. Why does everyone think he had an amazing year with the Texans? Because he had some big games. 159 yards in the opener. He did that here. He'd have a bunch of average to low yard games, then have a game where he rushes for 153 yards on 22 carries and his average would look much better. RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - jj22 - 04-23-2025 Ok so no RB drafted. If we (fans) were ok with spending 2 of the 6 picks on offense (RB, OG) does that mean WR is in play? Should it? I think having Chase and Tee (who we don't have even 1 of at RB or OG) means you can't rightfully spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on WR, and anything later than that probably isn't going to really contribute greatly this year and after two straight years of missing the playoffs you NEED to be about winning this year. If you feel you need some help at WR this year just go sign Tyler Lockett or Tyler Boyd for a year and save those draft picks for other positions. He did, we actually got a 3 down RB which is awesome. Mixon never was one with his poor effort in pass protection IMO. I like what Zack Moss did with the Colts as a pass protector (he was the best pass protecting RB in the NFL that year) but it is a what have you done for me lately league. Last year Moss was not impressive really in any aspect, just have to be real and I had high hopes for him at the very least being a good pass protector for Joe. Chase Brown grew exponentially last season and it was refreshing to see and I like that we brought back Samaje, but if it is me, I still have my eye on a RB mid to late in this Draft or at the very least as an UDFA after the Draft. So much talent at RB, could get one that is REALLY special. How did Mixon compare to Moss as a Bengal? It appears that is what you answered. So, yes Mixon was a higher in average yards pr run. OTOH if we do trade back to acquire more picks than I could see us taking one in the 6th/7th rd area RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - phil413 - 04-23-2025 We have to be the fan base that makes the most out of our RB's ability to pass block. You said Moss was much better than Perine (he wasn't) and that he could be a 3-down RB (you need to be able to actually run to be a 3-down back). You said Mixon showed he was a very good RB in Texas after being bad in Cincinnati (he was essentially the exact same). Now you're saying you were really talking about Mixon vs Moss as a Bengal? Which was never part of the conversation. You've lost the plot, man. Why attack me? Yes, I did say Moss has been a starting RB and Perinne has not. I believe he is better suited to be a 3 down back that Moss, just my opinion. I admitted I made a mistake with Mixon. "It appears that is what you answered. So, yes Mixon was a higher in average yards per run." Is there a reason you are in attack mode against me? If so, why? This is the second or 3rd time you went after me recently. RE: Moss restructures final year of contract - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 04-23-2025 (04-23-2025, 02:50 PM)schroomytunes Wrote: I agree! Could get a really special RB somewhere with another pick or two added. I think this is about as deep of a RB Draft as we have seen in some time and even an UDFA could be good behind Chase and Samaje. Spot on, if we have some shitty pass protecting RB it could end our season just as much as a shitty OL. |
