We're all hoping that is the case. Just like we're all hoping that last year's antics can finally be written off as youthful mistakes. On another note, that doesn't say much for how well the Alabama program prepares players for life in the NFL after college, despite putting so many players into the league...

The evidence would suggest that you're right. There's a lot of talent there though. I never do the bold prediction thing, but I'm going with the kid redeeming himself and putting up very solid numbers as the 3rd- 5th receiving option.

Essex is calling for him to flop again

To your point about bama though... I've never seen a coach dog a player the way Saban did back in the 2024 draft. Pretty damning.

Indeed, kind of makes you wonder why Saban even kept him around, if he had that much resentment toward him?

Where did I call him to fail, the "Binns" award to me is a player getting overhyped  without  much behind the hype,  saw that alot with Burton and gut thinks the same is happening again. Why would I want a bengal to fail that would hurt team,

The Binns award to me has not only been what you said but also the fact that the player never did jack after getting that offseason hype.
So nothing to justify the hype aside from offseason workouts, and nothing to prove the hype once the season started.

Binns ended up being a starter for 5 games in 2012, but only put up 210-1 in 8 games with Bengals.
For the hype they were building him up going into 2012 as the apparent starter opposite AJ Green, he should have been good enough to keep on the team all year and put up at least 700 yards.
Brooks is not getting the Binns award for one blurb/article before TC even starts.
I'd lump him in more for the Binns award if they were talking about him as the new starting RB.
Heck, if I were to pick someone for the Binns award, I'd be looking to whoever they hype up to start at DE other than Hendrickson.

I didn't mean you were rooting for him to fail. Just that you don't share my (completely unwarranted) view that Burton is going to contribute this year the way we thought he could last year. And again... You're probably right. I wouldn't bet on him. The guy couldn't do anything right last year after the preseason.

got ya, we should hope Burton contributes for sure though I think Iosivas is the guy that continues to progress going into his third year. In reality we expect 800 yards from our 3rd WR with the high concentration of passes going to Chase and Higgins, plus Gesicki taking some catches as a WR but love the TD ratio of Iosivas, 1/5 of his catches have been TDs..

There are folks on here who think he's going to take over the starting job from Brown during the season.

Brooks is very much in the Golden Binns competition.

The Binns award is for receivers that are drafted late or UDFAs. Guys that look really good in TC or PS but then end up doing nothing during the season.

If Burton flops, it's just considered a bust due to how excited the FO was and expectations.

There are?

I think at best, Brooks becomes the backup/COP guy next to CB.
CB can be a Top 10 RB in the league.
I don't see that for TB, but I think he can be a good RBBC/backup.

I love Brooks jump cuts and short area quickness but he just doesn't have the speed to run away from anyone. CB is a feature back and one of the better ones in the league. Looking forward to watching Brooks but i don't see him taking over #1.

He's probably talking about me saying Brooks has more carries than Brown as my Bold prediction. I'm just excited about the fit of Tahj Brooks in Cincy.

Speaking of Chase Brown I'm kinda worried about his production for 2025. The Bengals didn't exactly go out and create a 7 man blocking unit. If Andrei Iosivas takes a step forward as a blocker this year it will be huge for Chase Brown.

Worried about it in what way?
CB put up 990 rushing yards (4.3 YPC) on just 229 attempts, another 360 receiving yards on 54 rec last year.
So he already surpassed 1300 yards from scrimmage when not the full-season starting RB.
And that was behind a line that is probably the same or worse than it will be this year.

I foresee CB having 1400+ yards this year, possibly 1500+.

I don't have Tahj Brooks taking Chase Brown's starting spot this year, but I do think he will get more carries as the year goes on as he is the
perfect back for the inside zone we are going to run a lot of. Chase Brown has problems with his vision at times and making things happen in
short space, opposite of Tahj who knows how to get the tough yards in short space and break tackles.

Chase Brown should have a big year though if the OL is improved which I think it will be. Expecting some big long runs with him taking it to
the house this season. Dude has been close many times already.

Brooks is very much in the Golden Binns competition.

There are some that still believe the earth is flat, just no many.

Binns was supposed to be a starter by many and had a ton more buy in than Brooks.

Brown devloped into one of the best RB's in the NFL, he is one of the most explosive in the league. My floor for Brooks is he makes the team, but is not active this first 4 to 6 weeks unless Moss or Perine are injured. My ceiling is he develops into a nice 1 and 2 punch for us by 2027, but Brown is still the bell cow barring injury.

I hope he turns out to be great, but I don't think that happens for him as rookie.

With Erick All injured and no replacement the Bengals will likely shift back to their 2022 scheme because they won't be able to create a 7 man blocking surface. Sometimes they won't even be able to create a 6 man blocking surface when Mike is the TE in 11 Personnel similar to 2022 with Hayden Hurst.

Chase Brown is an excellent running back but Inside Zone and Duo consistently from a light formation is not where he shines. Pressing the hole changing gaps and running through lots of contact.

Is there a reason teams don't run the 2 back pro set any more? Being short All, if they were able to use a back, it might help? Also, with 2 capable RBs in the backfield, you wouldn't be able to key on one. Seems to offer some versatility.

*obviously, size is an issue but you don't need to block a guy downfield. Just get in his way, cut him, etc.

Methinks you're giving too much credit to Erick All, personally.

Erick All went out with injury in the Raiders game last year, not playing the rest of the season.
In the games Erick All was not there, Chase Brown put up - 511 rushing yards (4.1 YPC), 262 receiving yards (7.9 YPR) and 5 TDs across 7 games.
That pace across 17 games - 1241 rushing yards + 636 receiving yards = 1877 yards from scrimmage, 12 TDs.

It allows defenses to stay in their base D, or even bring in an extra run stopper.
