RE: Burfict: I'm Being Singled Out, I'll Have To Change - BonnieBengal - 02-24-2016 I'm hoping Haslett is the answer. I know Burfict didn't pull this kind of stuff when Zimmer was here. He needs a disciplinarian to reign him in and Marvin and Guenther haven't done it. He also brings up the point about Burfict simply returning favors to the Steelers for the way they have played the Bengals over the years. Clearly fred is wrong.....I'll go with a former professional player over some guy on a message board. Now, where have I heard that line before.....hmmmmmm.... The worst part about Burfict's penalty was the timing of it. I think if it would have happened earlier in the game, such as the Shazier hit, the team could have rebounded from it. He needed to be more aware of the in-game situation, and not gone for such a hit. I don't think it has to do with who's hit seemed worse. He is obviously going to be watched closly, simply because of some of the ankle twists, nut slaps, and personal fouls that he's racked up, but the hit he made was worthy of a penalty. He also needs to drop the victim complex, and just play the game. I think it was worse. While Zim was here, Taze was doing the nut slaps, ankle twists, and various other things AFTER the play. He developed the rep early.....now he's getting flagged for stuff that's happening DURING plays. (02-24-2016, 09:41 AM)Harmening Wrote: The worst part about Burfict's penalty was the timing of it. However, as Soly said, he could've destroyed AB....but actually pulled up at the last moment, contrary to popular sentiment and media narratives. He earned his rep early on....but then, so did Joey Porter....much more so. Where was his penalty? Where was his suspension? I mean, Taze might be a touch over the top on the field of play, but at least he's never waited outside of a team bus to fight, or mugged a fellow player. Vontaze has a rep, but the Bengals WERE singled out in that game. If you've ever been on a field with such lopsided officiating, and your teammates are getting hurt while the officials do nothing, you'd understand the mentality of that situation. Try playing in some places in Eastern Kentucky on a Friday night back in the 80s/90s! (I've seen flooded fields in drought season, been pelted with beer bottles, had a human fence of State Troopers and local LEOs from the locker room to the back of the bus, then escorted out of town......and that's just high school!) Honestly, that was some of the worst "homecooking" I've ever seen......and it was on OUR field! Burfict does not have to light him up at all. Burfict dipped his shoulder in to hit Brown even though it was clear the play was over. Spot On! His statements are an indication he will find himself in more fine or suspension trouble again. SMFH! Want to match a list of former players who think it was the correct call? Because I bet i can come up with a lot longer list than you. Want to make a sig bet on it? He went to the pro bowl while Zimmer was here. The Cam Newton ankle twist happened under Guenther. That season under Zimmer was also his only full season to date. Pretty sure the GB nut tap was under Zim, however. Nope.....cause I like my sig in case I were to lose such a meaningless bet, and I found more sources saying that Boling was a highly rated guard in his draft class, but that didn't seem to matter. I found Wilcots, a player with intimate knowledge of playing defense, AND playing in this rivalry with those clowns. That's good enough for me. I won't even mention James Harrison, Deion Sanders, or Richard Sherman.....just off the top of my head. Now that I look at those four alone, I see a group of guys not afraid to speak their minds, instead of corporate line toers and generally politically correct suck asses like I'm sure your list would comprise of. I'll still take Soly's word over your's though. Sure there's more Steeler fans out there. The media loves them, and Rooney is well respected. And really that's all it boils down to. Plenty worse hits, plenty dirtier shots from other players that never got the punishment Burfict got, and those same people you say agree, are probably calling those other players great players, unfortunate hits, passionate players etc. The narrative is different when it's a Bengal player. Rewatch the Superbowl and tell me if those hits Kuechly was laying on defenseless receivers were any worse. And he was praised as was Steelers players even Mike Mitchel after shots he took on Bengals players that knocked them out (or tried to) all season. I think many know this. Either way if Burfict is gone after a couple years and banned, and we go back to getting laid out, carted off, ir'd, broken jawed, and beat up by the Steelers with no one on the roster to scratch a Steeler player in return. Nobody better complain. At least we had a player around for awhile that didn't get bullied by the Steelers like the rest of our team has over the years. When he's gone and the Steelers march all over us on their way to championships, Burfict will be missed. RE: Burfict: I'm Being Singled Out, I'll Have To Change - McC - 02-24-2016 He is being singled out. I don't think him saying that is playing the victim. But this is the bed he made. He's old school in a new world. But the most significant thing he said is that he knows he has to change. You can't kick the drug until you realize you need to. They told me last year he'd never be the same player after the surgery. How'd that turn out? With a playoff win on the line just assume the best WR in the NFL wont catch the ball. Why make an effort to break up a play? That is not how I want our defenders to function. And the shoulder dip was rediculous. How dare he protect himself. He should have put his arm up and taken a helmet in the ribs like a good sport. Like everybody else in the NFL does when contact is unavoidable... Browns 2nd foot wasnt even down or just barely touched the ground when Burfict made contact. That ball was probably thrown at least 30MPH do you really think Burfict was moving that fast. Have you watched Burfict play defense? He wasnt going to get his hands on that ball , so he was going to make a jarring hit. Like he always does when he is unable to activate his superhuman speed and agility that you know he has. Insanity our own fans are still getting on our best defender for this BS RE: Burfict: I'm Being Singled Out, I'll Have To Change - Atomic Orange - 02-24-2016 I think what often gets lost in all of this when it comes to the media narrative is who exactly was going up for that ball. A Brown is only considered "THE BEST RECEIVER IN THE LEAGUE" and Tez played him just like that, It's just a shame Brown lowered his head into his shoulder. He cracked him to make sure he didn't catch the ball! And how did that work out? Look, I'm not some Tez hater. I love the way he plays when he plays it the right way. What he did there was not the right way in this day and age. It's just not. You have to eventually learn they are really cracking down on that policy. Not deflect blame to the fact he has a rep and other players won't get flagged. You acknowledge it and move on. I get it, tho. The Shazier and Mitchell hits was as bad or worse; Luke did it on the biggest of stages and nobody said a thing. I see what Tez is trying to insinuate. But to me it comes off like he's saying "Well they do it!". Why? We all see these things. How many times have we talked about the MM and Shaziers hits? I think he would of been much better off just admitting to his mistakes and moving on. Say I've learned my less and going to be changing it. Marv has a whole bunch of boring quotes he can use, just ask him. RE: Burfict: I'm Being Singled Out, I'll Have To Change - McC - 02-24-2016 If nothing else, the guy has got to be getting sick of handing over his money. RE: Burfict: I'm Being Singled Out, I'll Have To Change - Atomic Orange - 02-24-2016 Meh, Tez won the game and then Tez lost the game. after Jeremy Hill fumbled the football. And that will be my final word on this subject. Other than my Signature. Oh wait but there's more. Still think Tez should gather some "notes" and call up ESPN and ask for a interview. Admit to his wrong doing with the ankle twists and what not, explain the Brown hit using all angles of the play available and not just the one the media wants you to see (freds gif) and point out other plays(ers) he feels aren't getting the same treatment. (Mitchell and Shazier) Bring up the social media death threat etc etc. It is impossible for him to be anymore hated. Defend yourself Tez!!! But he won't do that because off the field and social media the guy is rather shy. Ok, done. The ball was through Browns hands when Burfict was still yards away. And Burfict could see this clearly. He was in no way trying to keep Brown from making the play. You are insulting BUrfict by claiming that he thought Brown has any chance to catch that ball.
