It's no different than a kickoff. Recover it in the field of play, it will be your ball at that spot. Recover it in the end zone, it will be 6 points for you. Don't recover it, and it is a touch back. It is a live ball, going out the back of the end zone, aka a touch back.

This D needs a lot of help. Hopefully getting a new DC, some new players up front and getting back Wilson, Turner and Hill will help raise them up to average next year.
