Trey, BJ Hill, Ogunjobi, Reader, Awuzie, Apple, Bell, Hilton.. I think Wilson is when you look at all of the interceptions, but I agree with you. Duke and the two scouts (props to whoever said that, lol) just ain't getting it done. You can look at any organization and say the same things with picks that don't work out. That's why the draft is a crap shoot. How many teams passed on Geno Atkins before he went in the 4th round? No one knows the future. Had the Bengals been the only team grading Jonah that high, that would be one thing. They weren't. I'm not a JW fan, but hindsight is 20/20 amd lame. Kinda O/T, but I found it a bit crazy that the Pats were looking at Atkins before selecting Hernandez. It was on the show about Hernandez...and Belichick mentioned Geno, but didn't like his size for their scheme. Ol Bill effed that one up. Logan isn't perfect on every play like Kuechly or Ray Lewis were, but he is always around the ball, absolutely solid in Run D and plays zone coverage as well as any LB in the league. Hope he's with us for another 10 years, playing at this level. RE: Of course we chose Jonah - Synric - 10-16-2024 I wouldn't mind if the Bengals bought a draft pick or possibly two next off-season. Signing a Free Agent RG would free up Alex Cappa for trade, and if the young IDL continue to show up for the rest of the season resigning BJ Hill then trading Rankins could be a second. What do you actually think they could get for Rankins besides a 6-7th round pick? He's got basically no stat line this season. With both Cappa and Rankins it could just be like a 6th in 2025 but then a 5th that could be a 3rd in 2026 RE: Of course we chose Jonah - ochocincos - 10-16-2024 (10-16-2024, 11:09 AM)Synric Wrote: I wouldn't mind if the Bengals bought a draft pick or possibly two next off-season. I feel like Bengals would not do this unless: A) They felt the FA was a clear upgrade to Cappa, and/or... B) They was a significant cap savings from moving on from Cappa Luckily, B looks to be true, as moving on from him could free up $8 mill in cap. They likely wouldn't sign a new OG who would cost too much more than $10 mill anyway, so as long as it might be an upgrade or at least sidegrade on a multi-year deal, they might do it. Did you have anyone in mind that you think could replace Cappa and either be as good or better? As things are currently, Cappa the steady veteran next to the rookie Mims is likely something that they would not want to disrupt as long as there is optimism that this team can pull things together for a run at the playoffs. JD is someone I would have wanted for sure, but with him tearing his Achilles just a couple weeks ago, will he be ready to hit the ground running at the start of next season, or will he be as effective as he had been up to that point? That would be my only potential hesitation before moving on from Cappa. Also, how much will the torn Achilles affect an upcoming new deal? Obviously they could also invest a draft pick to help cover for Daniels's recovery, but the intent is to not have to invest an early draft pick at RG, so... |
